New Horizons: PotC Canon or Not?

Just ran into a thread on the Pirates of the Caribbean Wiki regarding our modpack:
http://pirates.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:New_Horizons_-_canon_or_non-canon

It is really quite funny. :rofl

Too bad they deleted whatever article they had about our modpack.
They could have kept an article without claiming it to be canon. :facepalm

My fellow pirates. There is an edit war on the matter on if information from "Pirates of the Caribbean: New Horizons" is to be posted here or not...and so this matter is to be done with once and for all. Now here's what you need to know about this POTC mod before you decide for yourselves:
  1. It provides alot of information, but many of it conflicts with canonical material(e.g. Barbossa's age being a bit older, the history of Jack and the Wicked Wench)
  2. It was not made by Disney, nor has any relation to the Company.
  3. It was made by Akella which made the 2003 game.
So, my fellow pirates, make your choice...Should we any information from "New Horizons" be in POTC Wiki or should it be left out? --Black Pearl, HMS Interceptor, Queen Anne's Revenge 00:08, July 8, 2011 (UTC)?

Is POTC canon? Never has been and never will be. That is a good thing as we are not slaves to the almighty Disney.

Too bad about no free advertising there though. :nerbz

Nope, definitely is not. While we did take into account what was known about the real PotC canon at the time, we had to:
1. Move it all to the Caribbean
2. Fill in the blanks (the prequel book hadn't been written yet)
3. Add options for more free play

Of course as far as I'm concerned, the REAL PotC canon isn't real either. The REAL PotC prequel story is the one we developed here on PiratesAhoy!
That was a brilliant story, that was! Infinitely better than what they came up with. :whipa

Oh... it should be mentioned that our storyline opens up as being told by Mr. Gibbs to Guy Verbinski. And we all know the knack Mr. Gibbs has for embellishing things a bit.
And don't forget the actual storyline description:
A lot has been speculated about the early days of Jack Sparrow and we're not even sure if this particular account is entirely accurate. It does explain some of the events that shaped this infamous pirate, but the journey can take multiple twists and turns depending on your choices, which may or may not end with you sailing into the sunset after lifting the Curse of the Black Pearl.
