can u tell me how i can put the new flying dutchman into my game? im using build 14 with the alpha 6 update right now but im a little confused on how to add ships

OK mate you made me angry but i give you some advice anyways: Download Filmships mod from PA FTP server and you don't have to add anything. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

i was talking about the one razor made from the AOP game with the green sails i kno where to download it at but how do i get it in the game?
 
Just extract all the stuff in Flimships.zip to your potc folder. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

yep i got it down right....i think
im using the flying dutchman but the deck is sort of...discolored

and i tried to use the cursed dutchman and to test it out i made it as one of the ships i can chose to start with but it wasnt in the list even though i put "CursedDutchman" there
i also noticed that there was no cannon sounds when i shot at another ship <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />
 
You ARE using Build 14 <b>Alpha 6</b>, right? In that case you should be able to just install the <a href="http://pafiles.com/potc/FilmShips.zip" target="_blank">FilmShips mod</a> on top. Make sure all files go in their respective folders. It seems something went wrong with installing for you. Apparently you have some missing textures, but I'm sure those textures ARE in that ZIP file.
No cannons sounds? I thought that problem was only introduced in Build 14 Alpha 7. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

yeah ill try and reinstall it today and a for the cannon sounds they did work it just didnt at the time for idk what reason but they work now
 
ok ive got the ships into the game and they are working fine but i noticed the dutchman wasnt assigned a nation...so were might i go to buy this ship if i ever wanted it?
 
in ships_init.c (PROGRAM/SHIPS) set

refShip.CanBuy = true;

then you can buy it at a pirate shipyard (such as Quebradas Costillas), as pieter has already said somewhere <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
Most ships don't have a nation assigned. Ships without a nation are available to all nations. However, only pirate shipyards sell class 1 ships (for some strange reason - perhaps we ought to do something about that). Ingame name: Ghost Galleon (Will Turner's version) or Cursed Galleon (Davy Jones' version).
 
i think it's fine that we can buy them at the pirates. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> there should be SOME place you can get them.
 
They're supposed to be quest-only ships. I don't want them available for purchase anywhere in the final modpack. Only possibly available through the film quests. Of course any ship would be available to those who know how to get them (through the code). Or perhaps we can add a really weird old man somewhere hidden away who can sell you all the quest ships? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

since when are they quest only ships? there's only one manowar for all i know you can get in a quest. there's a whole lot of other types. of course, you CAN get a battleship from greenford.
 
Sorry, I was talking about the Flying Dutchman and Black Pearl, etc. Not the class 1 ships. I personally think class 1 ships should be available from ALL big towns, but NOT from the pirates. Why would the pirates be the only ones to have the REALLY big ships available for purchase? I would imagine the pirates would be the only ones to NOT have these ships available. Of course with the REALISTIC_SHIP_PURCHASE mod, you DO need to have a Letter of Marque to be able to buy navy ships, such as the really big class 1 ships, so they still wouldn't be readily available to any random privateer.
 
exactly for the reason that they wheren't sold to privateers. pirates don't go by those rules, so they DO sell them.
 
But to be able to sell them, they'd need to HAVE them. I can't see the pirates having many class 1 ships, but in the game they do. Perhaps I should add some code to greatly decrease the chance of class 1 ships at the pirates, but not completely remove them altogether. I am just thinking of gamebalancing here, because ships at the pirate shipyard are usually pirate design and thus better than the other ships, so to have class 1 pirate design ships readily available to anyone seems a bit wrong. Of course the REALISTIC_SHIP_PURCHASE also does somewhat counter that because you need to be a pirate with a high enough fame to be able to buy pirate design ships at the pirate shipyard. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
 
it seems fine to me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> getting high enough fame can be tricky.
 
ppl im editing the dutchman and reskinned it ...but ...i cant upload it right now ...im rly busy at the moment sorry but i gonna upload it when i can so just w8 ;-)
