My wife got a nice tan!

Luther

Landlubber
I worked really hard through one game to get the beautiful, `brown-haired` French daughter in `Port-de`-Paix. I married her then went on a voyage. When I came back, Spain had taken over the city! Bewildered, I visit the governor and lo and behold here comes my wife! Not only did she have a very brown tan, but she turned traitor and switched to the Spanish side! Translation, my wife was now Spanish, it even changed in my status screen. No effect on the game, but inconsistent. Could add to the drama if they threw her in prison or something and you had to rescue her.

Strange thing was I got mad and attacked the city to turn it back to French. I attacked several times with a large crew and it never gave the option to switch.

Yeah, I married the beautiful dutch girl with the red and green dress (yes, I choose my brides based on their dresses. What can I say other than that I'm female and wouldn't mind an option to play Anne Bonney or Mary Read, and romance a governor's son sometime). Next time I came back, spain had taken over and she was now a spanish beauty in one of those ugly red dresses!

Don't ya just HATE that! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

<b>Luther, </b>you need to attack a town over and over again to finally get the option to put your own governor back into place - you have to reduce the town garrison to (I think) under 50 before you can actually put your own governor in power.

I think I pounded Havana five times (win the battle, sail out, sail right back in, battle again, &tc) before I was able to install a French governor. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Gotta try taken Havana ,sounds like a real challenge,Iv'e enuff booty te pay some one te do it fer me,can't fine no volunteers though <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

yea throwing your wife in a cell then rescue her and transport her to which colony you prefer and friendly to you. that would be a nice story to add to this game.

in my game, my objective is to destroy Spain (which is giving 65,000 golds for my head <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" /> ). they could invade the city where she is (of course for them to kidnap her they have to subdue the military force in that city) and make her as a ransom or make me stop targetting their ships and city for a loot.

that could be an additional spice in this beautiful game.

That will not work in this case. Once you are married to a daughter in a specific town, you can never install a new governor there. I guess this was meant to make sure that your wife did not accidentally change nationalities by your hand, but the programmers forgor that the AI can also attack and turn over the towns...

Heh, Havana was easy for me, there were 2 havens and 2 Indian Villages near Havana so I just told them to go attack Havana and from there I mopped up. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

My dream would be to sack Panama, but... yeah. First I need to become a better tactictian. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

Panama in my current game has 1200 troops <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

I agree with Wolfwood. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

about the Govenor thingy, i think its more of just clicking too hard when you've finished the land battles, for the longest time i was trying to figure out why i could only install govenors sometimes, but then once i started only ever pressing enter after winning the land battles, i've been able to install a governor everytime <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> my favorite is attacking the towns with a garrison under 100 though, its funner having a swordfight with the Capitan of the Gaurd rather then having the chess like land battles <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" />

Aye Spaz,I'd be like'n de sword fight scene,one O' de best in de game,I don't mind de land battles,but dey be gett'n a little bore'n after a while <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I like that duel, too. But there is a challenge to the land battles - I used to wargame on boards on a table (analog instead of digital gaming, LOL!), and this reminds me of that... Took only a couple of tries to get me hooked again. Fun stuff. I like strategy games much better than FPS! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
