today i layed the last hand on my invention. some of you have seen some WIP already. the lighting is a little odd, but that's because we had the sun screen down over the windows.

<img src="http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s208/morgan_terror/forwards2.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
<img src="http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s208/morgan_terror/forwards3.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

that would be the regular walking, and under here are two pictures of steering:

<img src="http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s208/morgan_terror/steering2.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

as you might have guessed, it can also go backwards.

magnificently bastard. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> It looks like it actually works. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

of course it works! you think i'd build it if it wouldn't? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Nice job Morgan. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

It's amazing what can be build from those plastic pieces <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Morgan, you are the da Vinci of our time <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Reminds me of those little spider bots from Runaway! Good job Morgan!

i'm rather happy mine don't explode. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> although there was the incident with the bayblade-launcher... that thing got renamed very quickly to the shrapnel-dispenser. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

oh, in case you're wondering what the levers are for: i was thinking that this device wasn't outrageously complicated enough already, so i diverted the engine power into two halves for the left and right legs. next, i'm try two legs. should be interesting.

it's funny that you mentioned da vinci. i've often compared myself to him, or at least as an inspiration. his mechanism for a flying machine is quite useful. i base much of my designs off his ideas, although they've changed so much by now that they hardly look like them anymore.

it's not really comparable. i always use a single engine and difference engine mechanisms, without any electrical programming. i avoid electronics as much as i can because of mechanics being much more reliable and straightforward. and it makes a nice noise. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I wasn't comparing.. I was just interested in how smoothly that guy could control it's legs with that remote control. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

he's not. the legs are controlled by a program. he just activates a specific program when he needs it and apparently has an option to engage manual control on a single leg if he wants to.

That's really cool, I'm going to have to invest in some more legos..
That electronic one is nice, but mechanical operation is much more interesting, IMO.

i keep a rule that when someone can't see how something works when they merely look at it, you did it right. also, if you use something that someone else invented, improve it when using it yourself. the gearbox on that thing is, for example, a reversed version of the original design to enable me to split a single engine into 4 seperate systems, or in this case, two systems which can go in two directions.
