More realistic british soldiers.

I'm not entirely sure how to do this, but I think you might be able to do it in PROGRAM\Loc_ai\LAi_equip.c. Only some of the soldiers are preset in the character init files, so you'd need to edit those as well. I am thinking we should add some code which makes certain characters use certain weapons. So we'd make muskets more common for soldiers and musketoons more common on boardings, etc. Would be interesting. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Aye, but the only problem would be the anamations... the muskets would be hanging at the soldiers' sides, not shouldered like they would in real life.

well, i doubt that that will ever be changed. gameplay-wise, this could prove for some interesting combat. soldiers would really become a danger, until you close in enough, and then they would be fightable in melee combat because they only have a saber. of course, it remains to be seen how poerful sabers will be later on.

Of course how powerful the sabers are has been changed by Ron Losey.
I would also like to give the soldiers muskets and make them <i>use</i> them as well. The other day I tried giving a shotgun to Clint Eastwood, but he refused to actually use the thing. That doesn't really help, does it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
Changing the animation isn't possible with our current toos.

well, the boarding crew does use muskets when they have them, i know that.

have you thought of giving him ammo too?

No, I hadn't. I was under the impression that only the player and officers need ammunition and enemies don't. I added them now; let's see if he does fire next time.

as far as i'm aware, the enemies use it too. i've always noticed that when looting. they had less ammo after they shot me.

You looted them before shooting and then again after shooting? How'd you do THAT??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
I don't remember when Jack Rackham made his ammo mod rewrites; it could be that the rewrite is only added in the Build 14 Alpha, but wasn't there in Build 13 yet.

naah, it's just a suspicion for the most part. however, i could try to save the game and kill my enemy before he shoots me, the reload, and let him shoot me first before i kill him. what i've been seeing is that foes who fired difrst usually had less ammo than those who didn't.
