I'd like to propose making companions more independent.
It would be nice if when one of the captains that you meet in taverns after joining you (not just fo one job) could take care of theirs ships by themselves (buying food, ammunition, powder, recruting crew and making repairs). It could be that you share your loot with them depending on how many of them joined you (like when there is one you share fifty fifty etc.) Of course officers that you appointed to a ship would still be like now. If anyone is interested in making such mod write proposition and ideas how to make it.
