Solved Modifying the Telescope

I’m getting mightily annoyed with the telescope auto-focusing on a ship while I’m trying to examine it.

Is there any way to stop this?

I have absolutely no clue. That is probably handled by the game engine.
If the relevant code is anywhere, it would be the ispyglass.c file.

I always quite liked that feature; saves you the trouble of following the ship you're tracking yourself.
Why do you not want it to do that?

Maybe you can use the Control plus Arrow Left/Right keys instead?
Those switch the camera to NPC ships.

I like the feature by all means, it’s just incredibly frustrating when I’m trying to look at the masts.

But... switching between the ships isn’t something I knew about, maybe that will help!

I figured the masts were why you asked the question.
Can quite imagine it would be annoying in that case.
Good thing there's an alternative.

Come to think of it, good chance that Ctrl+Arrow functionality was added for that very reason.
I always did wonder why @konradk bothered to do that, but he is also the one who created the Different Flags mod to begin with.
So that probably explains it.
