After starting a new game many times (i've been modding) I cant help notice that the lugger and Fast Scooner (on my opinion the only ship worth having) have no cannons on the port side! well the model shows them and occording to the shipyard i got em! but my minimap shows no range cone on that side of the ship and I cant fire even when in boarding range! anyone got an insight into this? is it intended?

On an unrelated note the "About build 12" button on both inferfaces dont do a thing

Have you turned the real cannons mod off in BuildSettings.h? That seems to mess up the cannon arcs somehow. You'd better keep it turned on... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

They never did. It's not a bug per se; nobody ever made them working. I think we should make it working though... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

The fix?
Dont Adjust #define FIRE_ANGLE_SCALAR_W in buildsettings

It might be an idea to remove this varable from the file and hardcode 1 into the cannon files

If you want I could undertake this

Whoa thar fudge dragon....I like this setting, not a hundred percent sure what this does, but I like a wider arc of fire on me cannons, because this cannon mod made this way tew narrow .......it is more unrealistic than the stock, If we get rid of that we have this tiny sliver of arc left......lets try another track first! please!

I know there is a couple of those settings in buildsettings.h about Fire_ Angular_Scalar or something like that in a row, and they all sound somewhat similiar...but the one I changed allowed a double arc wide for cannons......I realize up and down was very limited, but angle wise not so much, that is why I didnt like the restrictions put on the build with that realistic cannon mod, or whatever it was called. Not saying this was a bad mod, just think the angle was made too narrow. The problem is there are a number of threads that say something like if you change settings the whole mod doesn't work right, so I do not know if I was better off or not.....

Now I will be the first to agree the whole Cannons/Fire/Ammo/Damage thing needs a better streamlined overhaul....too many mods tinkering with one and not the "Whole" has changed some things but not the rest, so this really needs to be put into a balanced state again. I still think "bombs" should be used for Shore batteries, that have the ability too use "heated Shot"......not all forts for gosh sakes, just some......to throw in a little variety......still seems as if the AI uses Bombs, because of the numbers of Fires.....It got so bad I disabled that in buildsettings.h...happened everytime the buggers hit me.....wasnt a Sailor, I was a flippin Fireman!!!
 
Maybe adjusting it only mucks up the angles with real cannons turned off
Maybe set it so it takes not notice of it if real cannons is off
 
You can add bombs back to the game and still use real cannons. Just go to PROGRAM/STORE/Goodsint and find the entry on bombs. There's a true/false line about their being sold, just change it. Note that their damage has been greatly increased because they were modified to be fort weapons only.
 
The bug mentioned here has been found and has been fixed. The cannons now work properly, both with the realistic cannons mod and and off. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

In my old (Nov.) version I noticed that also, but not because of the number of fires.
I was able to set off several fires on enemy ships by using only ball ammo.

Using the Master Spyglass (real spyglass turned off) I have on several occasions seen enemy ships using Bombs, but when you capture them, they have none to transfer.

Strange that enemies still seem to be using bombs. I really should play the game some more to see what happens. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
