Just a thought for the future... that is once Build 13 has been finalised.

A feature of the Russian SLiB mod is that you can purchase maps (they tend to be quite expensive, appropriately) of The Archipelago and all the individual islands (showing land routes between all the locations) and that these maps can then be accessed in your inventory... yep, that's right, the inventory has sub-categories.

So I'm thinking it might be handy to have this feature in Build 13 eventually. We could use modified versions of the maps from SLiB, with all due credit given of course, as well as some of these fine dungeon maps by Captain Red.

Seems to me that it would primarily be an upgrade of the Character Interface, so I'm thinking Maximus might be the man for the job if he thinks it's do-able.

While the map thing is wicked cool and something I'd love to see implamented I have to say this piece of information is what grabs my attention most. THE INVENTORY SYSTEM SUCKS ASS! Too much stuff and a system made for maybe a half-dozen items at most.

If all those skill boosting items, ammo items, etc could be put into submenues in the inventory that would make things much better.

Is there a way to have additional shore areas that couyld only be accessed by obtaining a certain map that reveals a hidden location? That could be fun for secret bases and what not.
 
I mentioned this as well somewhere else (me forgets ver), but allowing the captains chest in his ship to hold skill enhancing items, and still have the enhancements applied, would greatly reduce the clutter of those items.

Likewise for the weapons/ammo mod, a seperate 'spot' on the inventory screen that shows the poweder and shot you carry, would also reduce the junk in your inventory list, as those are more/less static items that even when run empty, still exist in your inventory (same with gold).

Since all the data exists in arrays, this really should not be TOO difficult to split up into groupings displayed. Just need an interface wiz to work on it (Maximus?). I am too busy ATM to learn the interface system, or I would take a shot at it.

The "maps" thing could be appropriately added to the "Map" interface section, no? Clicking on subtabs in the map section would let you look through your maps. Clicking on islands on the big map, would show you details on that island (if you bought such details, or found them). Could be very interesting... would remove all that map stuff from the inventory as well.
