Here's a complete list of the various mission types (as of the older patch 1.01), i extracted the lines directly from the corresponding .ini file:

-Deliver slaves to the colony @<colony>.
-Deliver the @<item> to @<colony>.
-Pick up the @<item> in @<colony> and deliver it to @<parent_colony>.
-Escort the ship '@<ship_name>'.
-Sink ship '@<ship_name>'.
-Capture ship '@<ship_name>'.
-Transfer @<passenger> to @<colony>.
-Deliver @<good> to @<colony>.
-Take a load of @<good> from @<colony> and deliver it to @<parent_colony>.
-Colony defense
-Desease on @<island>. -> deliver medicine
-Capture the colony of '@<island>'.
-Kill a man called @<char_name>.

Now here is an interesting mission type:
#QUEST Regatte
Delivery of @<tradetype> to @<colony>.
#TEXT 1
Merchant @<customer_name> on @<current_colony> asked me to deliver @<tradequantity> tons of @<tradetype> to @<colony>. It's not so simple it may look because some captain @<ranger> is sailing there also with the same load. Who comes first will receive some bonus.

Yeah, especially when they ask you to pick up somebody at, say, Nevis and deliver him to....Nevis. Makes you wanna play soooo much longer...

I haven't played that far, but rumour has it that pretty often you get the news that England has attacked the colony, that belongs to England and the same is with other countries. So you get the pattern. It looks nice on paper. Dealing with it in the game is another story. Cargo delivery to/from a colony

Transport a passenger to/from a colony

Deliver an item to/from a colony

Sink a ship

Capture an item aboard a ship and deliver it to the employer

Capture a passenger of a ship and deliver him to the employer

Escort a ship to/from a colony

Capture a colony

Defend a colony

Capture slaves and deliver them to the employer

Assasination

Then there's the profitable but risky contraband trading, fat gold convoys, colonies to plunder or develop, plain old piracy on the high seas - quite alot of possibilities.

Yep, we got a storyline - not as big as in PotC, which was built around story, whreas AoP is built to be open-ended and more replayable, but it's a story nontheless. What about military rank, I read somewhere that was implemented something like military carier (like in SM's Pirates or POTC+ModPack <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ) but didn't work <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" /> . Could you tell us something about that?

I think I should do a translation of the monologue you get to hear when you start the game and learn the beginning of the so called "story". I mean a litteral translation. Who wrote it? Killing Raymondo 16 times makes more sense than this verbal masterpiece.

i have high hopes that you fix the military career system with the next patch in a way that makes it both challenging and rewarding. If i remember correctly with patch 1.03 or 1.04 you could gain military ranks, but after completing only two missions (~ 1 hour game time) i was appointed "Commodore". Thats a pretty high rank (actually its NOT a naval rank, only a temporary commission) for a service time of two in-game weeks. I hope you aim for 40-50 successful missions and years of service time to achive the highest rank for a given nation. It would be great if a certain military rank gives access to new ship types (e.g. the rank post-captain gives access to Brigs after 2 years service time): most good open-ended space games use certain restrictions so you are not able to get the best ships too fast. Also i would encourage to implement more interesting rewards from the governor (other than X piastres), for example a ship with upgrades that cannot be bought at the shipyard. Lastly, if you gain the rank of an admiral, please let the governor give actual fleet operation missions.

ALL quests from storyline:
1. up to 10 level
2. go to anyone tavern and bay map
3. go to island from map
4. kill your sister or not
5. capture all colonies.

That's ALL.
 
Thanks, but capturing colonies can be single storyline quest for all time. Without firsts 6 points. Or possible execute quests before any point and in any event capture all colonies. Sounds good but gameplay monotonous.
