<a href="http://www.ipodlinux.org" target="_blank">Ipod linux</a> or podzilla can be installed on any apple ipod (except the shuffle (and its quite complecated to install on 5g and mini)) to let you play games like doom, and enables you to watch videoes on the ipod (even if it's black and white). i put this on my nano and it rocks!!!!. it still is in beta stage so there are a few bugs, but its pretty stable.
pros:
1. watch video on ANY ipod (except 5g and mimi because you have to install podzilla2 which can't do this yet)
2. view photoes on ANY ipod
3. play cool games like doom, doom2, doom64, half-life
4. run emulators such as iboy (gameboy emulator) ines (nintendo game's) mame32 (mame 32 games)
5. recording at up to 96k (really high quality recording, like studio quality.)
6. put applications on it (such as,tone generators, converters ect.)
7. leaves apple firmwere intact so you can choose which one to boot in to (default apple)
8. extreemly small size (like 5mb)
cons:
1. voids warrenty <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> (i had my nano for 6 days untill i installed this <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> )
2. when watching video/playing games battery life reduced to anywhere between 40min to 90min
3. if installed incorectly it may screw your ipod up (although its almost imposible to perminetly screw it up)
4. video only supports uncompressed, specially encoded avi's (convert usuing "mopid"(google it "mopid"))
5. the odd bug now and then (nothing really to worry about)
6. not really a god music player (but who cares you still can play music on apple firmwere)
