L' Hermione is on her way to the mouth of the Charente, where she will anchor for a couple of days just south of Isle Aix for a few last minute preparations before she starts two months worth of sea trails along the coast of France in the Bay of Biscay. All the video I have found so far shows her still under tow, but I am sure she has at least tested her engines by now. Her first real sailing test will come in a few days as she heads south to the Gironde estuary near Bordeaux. She will spend some time in Bordeaux, and from October 9'th through the 13'th will be giving tours of the ship. She will return to Rochefort in November to winter over in her dry dock for maintenance.

Here is some high def video uploaded to Youtube showing the gate being towed away, and L' Hermione being towed free of her drydock.

As soon as I find some video of her under her own engine power, I will post it. I will also hopefully be posting video of her under full sail soon too, but that probably won't be for a couple of days. In this video though, you actually get to see her firing her guns!

Some of this information was in a previous article, but for those of you who missed it, these are the plans for the voyage in 2015. In March of 2015, she will conduct more sea trails, and then in April she will set sail for the east coast of America where her first stop will be in Yorktown, VA. The trip is expected to take around 40 days, as she will make a stop at the Canary Islands along the way. She is expected to arrive in Yorktown between June 5'th and 7'th. She is scheduled to make another 8 stops at ports along the east coast and spend two or three days at each stop. You can find the full itinerary in the PDF HERE! Hopefully closer to her departure, they will release more dates and details. Her final port of call as of now is scheduled to be Halifax, Canada from July 17 to 20. After which she will make a return crossing that may be marked by a stop in Saint Pierre and Miquelon dock in Brest before Aug. 9, 2015. A week later, L' Hermione returns to Rochefort and its dry dock.

Here is another video of her being towed under one of the bridges, Martrou Rochefort; on the Charente river. She has her staysails and mizzen course set, her masts lowered and her yards braced. It also shows a bit of the civilian flotilla that she has attracted following her.

The same bridge from a different angle, the video turns 90 degrees about 1:25 so you can actually start watching it there.

With one day left to go, the kisskissbankabnk fund raising campaign for L' Hermione's lantern currently has raised €37,105. of it's €40,000. goal. So if you wish to contribute, now is the time! You can find out more information and make a contribution HERE!

I believe this video shows her under her own engine power out in the Pertuis d'Antioche, headed for Isle Aix! According to what I have read, she is escorted by a flotilla of at least 50 other vessels.

Judging by the flags she was going into a headwind, so she had to be under her own power. The small boats seemed to be making lots of wakes but she was making almost nothing. Sleek design.

i cant wait to see her under full sail that is going to be epic

Yes, I very much am too! Should be some video of that in a couple of days mate!

Yes, it looks to have been a very windy day, you can hear a lot of wind noise in some of the videos. I noticed that she wasn't making much of a wake, I am really curious to see her under full sail and see just what speeds she can reach!

This video, shot from l'île Madame, shows L' Hermione making the transition from the River Charente estuary to the “anse de la cour”, near the town of Fouras, France. In the background you can see some of the fortifications from the 16oo's. Fort Vauban, part of the fortifications of Saint-Martin-de-Ré, is very prominent and makes her look right at home, except for the 100 boat flotilla surrounding her!

Her she is anchored south of l'île d'Aix, making last minute preparations for full sail in a day or two!

A big thanks to the guy who made all these posts about the Hermione , without this i would have probably missed the event . and i have to say that it was something great to see . it's not everyday you can see a military ship of the pirates era . glad to hear that interior will be open to public at Bordeaux too , no doubt i'll be some of the first there

Thanks mate, glad you found my articles useful! I am hoping to get to see her in person myself next year! :onya

More video, this time from on-board L' Hermione during her voyage down the Charente, shot by the France 3 TV station.

According to tracking on Marinetraffic.com, L' Hermione is currently moving at 5.4 knots and appears to actually be under sail! No news, video or pictures to confirm it yet, but she is definitely moving.

**EDIT**

We now have confirmation, L' Hermione is under sail power for the first time! According to the translated article, she is sailing with 7 of her sails set, and reached a top speed of 7 knots. She has 17 sails total, and hopefully will be under full sail soon! The article posted on www.franceinfo.fr also has some interviews with some of the volunteer crew, unfortunately there is no English translation for those.
