Just tried running game...

Hey guys, I just installed the game and the latest build and when I went to run it, I got this:

Scanning current directory
Loading modules...
Loaded 0
Reset...
Initializing CORE...
User Rised Exception
C:\PROJECTS\DRIVE_V2\ENGINE\SOURCES\Core.cpp line 364
no 'engine.ini' file

Any idea of how to correct this issue without reinstalling? Thanks!

Jack

Are you sure you installed the game in the correct installation order? Which modpack did you install? Build 13 or the Build 14 Alpha version? If you installed the Build 14 Alpha version, you do need to install Build 13 first. In any case: Turn on <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9234" target="_blank">error logging</a> and show the contents of the error.log file that is generated when you try to start the game. If there is no error.log file, show system.log and compile.log here instead.

Ok, this is what I did, I d/loaded the build (13 full), then I installed the basic game...restarted, then I ran the setup for the build. Didnt do the localization thing and hit Ctrl-c, etc. I tried running the game and it gave me that error. If I missed a step, feel free to flog me lol. I am in the process of installing again. Same order.

That's weird. It should work that way. You might be missing loading screens and sounds if you don't run RunMe.bat, but the game should still run. Please do as I suggest above with turning on error logging. That should give us a clue why it doesn't work.

BTW: If you're reinstalling anyway, please check if the game does run before installing Build 13 on top.

it should run without the build-i've seen him before. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> always good to see one of the hideouters here. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> anyway, i'll let you speak for yourself. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> don't you also have to run preset.bat?

That only applies to the Build 14 Alpha version.

i don't think it would hurt. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> but best listen to him. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> i seem to know what i'm talking about, but i'm always wrong. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> except for those last two things of course. but that would mean the last thing isn't true, which would end up being a mind-boggling experience for any philosopher. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Running preset.bat on Build 13 would actually cause major trouble, because it removes some files that Build 13 does use, but the Build 14 Alpha doesn't use. Preset.bat is not IN Build 13 though, so this should never happen. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

see? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> he always does that.

I can't help it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" />

Ok, if anyone is a whiz at this let me know. My computer plays videos fine, it plays Jaws Unleashed fine, but other games do not work. They have missing graphics. Example would be the tanks and soldiers, etc in Battlefield 1942 are missing but you see their shadows move. POTC is the same. Help!

i can't help. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> i have noticed something however: you spelled your name the wrong way. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> there's an e in McNil. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Heh, I wont hold that statement against ya. I did that for a reason, a long time ago. It was initially a mistake but I have grown above it, and its what I am known as. As for the problems, I linked them to the video card being too powerful for my power supply. I put in my old Radeon 9250 and things seem to be working. True I cant run games such as Oblivion anymore (The main reason I got the N6800 in the first place). Oh well, I will have to either put it in a new comp or buy a better power supply. Cheerio!
