Been doing some modifying of another ship in 3DS Max but when I export it to GM it seems fine, I put it in game without locators and its fine. However when I add locators to the model in game the deck has a strange flickering on the texture, does anyone know what may be wrong?

Strange flickering? Now that is something I haven't heard before. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

I'v noticed this one on brig ..even stock potc's brig has it ..deck seems to be flickering and it doesn't flicker when you look at brig model in GM Viewer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

sounds to me like the game or the computer can't handle it somehow. i've seen it happen in other games too. does it always flicker, or only at a certain camera angle?

It flickers constantly but when the locators are removed altogether (no masts, camera or paths) the flickering issue dissapears.

does it dissapear only if you remove all of them or have you been able to determine exactly what you needed to remove?

Can you send your modified GM file and locator file to me and I'll see if I can replicate it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Don't ask me why I think so, as it is just a feeling, but I suspect that it is the Path.gm

Good point. I think usually path.gm is invisible, but it IS positioned at the same place as the deck. So if it somehow became visible in the process, the game would be confused which deck to actually show: path.gm or the ship's real deck.

Got it working fine now it was the Path.gm file, it needed lowering to -0.1. The ship was the Brigantine but I hung the launch off the stern similar to the packetbrig, here is a picture:

<img src="http://seanorris.googlepages.com/Brigantine2.JPG" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Wow! That looks really cool! Better than on the Packet Brig, truth be told. Will you be releasing that one? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

not to mention the ship itself. it's truly mean i've never managed to get one myself. i always get a corvette or something before i get the chance to get a brigantine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

In that case i have to dissapoint you even more because i have used a brigantine before and i even have kicked spanish A$$ with a schooner. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Nice ship there SeaNorris! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

oh really? did you happen to manage to defeat three frigates with a brig as well? i did. speaking of kicking spaniard's asses, i boarded a war galleon with my favorite schooner from the FRONT sailing in the SAME direction as he was. i can tell you one thing, and that's that that is without doubt the most difficult boarding setup EVER! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> anyway, this is not the place to compare war stories.

Glad you like it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I will release it as soon as I can, had a system crash recently and lost most of the work on this ship, however I will redo it soon. The strange thing is though since doing a fresh install on my hard drive, Tool now opens all the ships I couldn't before so now I can get back to finishing those AOP Walk files <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Isn't it the AOP fleut that we can see in the background of you screenshot? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
By the way, very very nice work <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It is indeed the AOP Fleut in the background, well spotted <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I have actually finished the Fleut (Rigging and Walk file).

The Tool now does open all files? That's peculiar. Do you get the beep problem on modifying the Amsterdam still? Would be interesting if that problem would've gone as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Wait.. What?.. How?.. When?.. and Where? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Reinstalling all the crap in the harddrive? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> ..then i would go for deframenting because i don't use factory installing crap to get my computer operational. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
