How complete are the various storylines?

I'm learning the basics while trying to make my "quest" come together.
 
Sounds interesting. What you could do if you feel like it is to take one of the various modder-quests from the Devlin storyline and finish it.
Right now the code is set up to allow for a lot of different quests, only most of them don't yet exist and the ones that do quickly end anyway.

I have just played the Mings storyline ( with Patch 4) and it stops after JS is captured by Beckett at the lighthouse. When you leave lighthouse beach you are taken straight to the storm, but Davy Jones beach scene does not load, game just stops dead.

Also in the rescuing EITC officer side quest neither Thomas Tipman or Waldegrave (the EITC officer being rescued) have images at bottom left of main screen or in the F2 character screen.

Have just started th Brin/ Brock storyline - I'll tell you how far I get

Just like to say Build 14 is an awsome creation .
 
The reason for the missing images is simple: they just don't exist yet because nobody made them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
The Davy Jones scene problem is a bit more worrisome. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

On the Brin/ Brock story line the Davy Jones beach scene did not load, got the loading screen then game stops dead. ( This is after sinking Volcano, meeting barbossa on martinique, then going back to Lighthouse bay & being captured by Beckett).

On the Mings quest, above, the quest fails after having gone to find treasure with Phillipe & Maximus finding treasure going to Cayman, then Turks then to Lighthouse Bay to be captured by Beckett.

In both cases after Beckett stops talking you go to board Becketts ship and storm scene starts immediately, unlike the Billy Brock Tester where the storm only starts after you board Becketts ship and enter the world map.

The problem with that is, that it seems quite hard to start as there are no tutorials or something.
Like if you take my case, I can program in various languages, so it should not be so hard to get into the coding part. But knowing what commands lead to what needs experience with how everything is constructed together. So any advices how to give that a starting point?
I would at least try something like a "Talk to person A, get the task to kill person B"-Testquest to see how that works and then I could see.

And just not to raise any expectations: I am currently finishing my studies (writing thesis) and then looking for a job. So actually my available amount of time is quite limited. So that is why I wont promise anything except expressing my interest in looking into how it works. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Edit: OKay, just seeing that I am kinda blind and that there are indeed tutorials available. Gonna take a look at them.

Well, a good question to start with would be: Which built should I use if I then try somewhere to program around on my own. 13 or the newest? Or the original one?

To install, please follow these instructions:
1 - Install Build 13 Final (if you haven't done so already)
2 - Extract the Build 14 Alpha 9 Full file on top of your game and allow it to overwrite all files it wants to
3 - Install Alpha 9.5, following the instructions in the installer and allow it to run RunMe.bat
4 - Start the game and reset the controls to default in the Options menu
5 - Tweak the controls and the game's settings to your liking in the Options menu
6 - Start a new game, select a storyline and ENJOY!
 
I'd recommend Build 14 Alpha 9.5 for development purposes.
It's pretty stable and since it's also pretty recent, it'd be much easier to include your work in future Build versions. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
