Thanks

As you pass it sail WNW from there(Direct Sail is best) - when you get LandHo the Volcano should be WAY off in the distance near the rocks in the sea.
(It isn't near the port at all.)

I played this part using map sailing mode as opposed to DirectSail and that works too. Just sail to the North top of the island, then sail clockwise around the island and you will run into the Volcano. There should be a description to that effect in the dialog file if I remember. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I have sailed from Charlestown sail to Guadeloupe on the north side of Guadeloupe past the "horseshoe"then sailed WSW till I get the landho but no ship, I sailed clockwise around the other island but cant find it. Is it hard to find?
Thanks

Depends how near the north end of the island you are - As a check, after the LandHo! and you are at sea again activate "sail to". You should see a Class 1 French ship in the list. Highlight it, and then look around for "the arrow in the sky", that's the Volcano.

After sailing to Guadeloupe, did you revisit Charlestown again? The idea is that from Charlestown, you sail to Guadeloupe to give your crew some training (no need to land ashore), then back to Charlestown and then you go and fight the Volcano at Martinique. You probably already know that though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

But you do need to be at sea at Guadeloupe - not just in map mode.
(The idea was to encourage Direct Sailing as it is a short journey)

True; just sailing past in mapmode will not do. You must enter 3D sailing mode at Guadeloupe, though you can use both DirectSail or worldmap to get there. I want to use DirectSail myself at some point, but I keep using worldmap due to lack of time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

You should try it if you can (point taken on time available <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> ) it is really nice now, except for the rain! You will get the point of that when you try it! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

That is NOT a criticism of the weather by the way, that too, is really good now.

Rain? What's up with the rain? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Ok, still cant find ship. I will start a new game and try again.
Do you go to the north side of Guadeloupe near the "horseshoe" shape on the island turn and face WSW then go into sailing mode and steer course WSW till I get to the ship?

I did this and got a "sail ho!" but on closeer inspection of the french ship`s they wasnt the one I wanted.

Once Captain Pellew told you to sail to Guadeloupe, sail there until you get the "Land Ho!". Check that you get an XP bonus to make sure the quest command executed. Then go to Charlestown and go into port again. Pellow will talk to you, you'll get a movie and be back at sea. Then sail to Falaise de Fleur until the "Land Ho!" and the Volcano should be there.

If you get a "Sail Ho!", it's a random ship. You won't meet the Volcano until you get the Martinique "Land Ho!" message.

BTW: Last time I tested, after the movie I was reloaded to sea but there was no land in reach. Of course I used map sailing mode, but I'm not sure if DirectSail would've worked at all. Does DirectSail now work even when you end up in the middle of nowhere, now that we use the realistic version? I'm thinking maybe that does finally work, which means we should disable the "No island within reach" message.

Once it starts raining, it doesn't want to stop! My first experience with it was, "Will it never stop raining??" I've kept a close eye on the numbers and it's working as intended, however. If you get totally sick of the rain, put the line

SetNextWeather("Clear");

in your console.c file and hit F12. Next time the weather changes, it will be blue skies. You can hurry it along by going to the deck of the ship Other choices can be found in WhrWeather.c in the SetNextWeather() function. I tend to use those a lot when testing stuff. Once you've set Clear weather, it can take a long time to see rain again, usually until the weather system is randomized.

Pieter, try direct sailing between two relatively close islands. Redmond to Cuba is excellent, just sail north. Nevis to Guadeloupe is NOT a good candidate for this because you log into Guadeloupe very close to the island, right on top of it... I'm thinking about how to tweak that properly. Sailing between St. Martin and Nevis is good and highlights the features of the weather and directsail well. A lot of these short trips will take little more than a game hour.

Currently if you use worldmap sailing, go to the 3d sailing mode and aren't close to an island, you can't use directsail. There's literally nothing out there. I suppose I could fix it where you always log into the closest island... it was on my to-do list once. This may not be a good idea, however. Some day I might remember why. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

In that case we can leave the message; I was just thinking perhaps the realistic sailing mode might've fixed that. If not, oh well, there's still the worldmap for those situations. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

As for the rain! LOL! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />
Would be nice if it <i>did</i> stop at some point though.
Even in the Netherlands it doesn't last forever, let alone in the Caribbean! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

I think this might be similar to the situation we had at Redmond that HOOK fixed.

When you go to map, then sea, you are at the pirate fort position - (fun if there are pirates about!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> )
The Map also puts you there if you "go to map" as soon as you have finished the movie.

It does sound similar to the Redmond situation, but I thought Hook's fix was a general one, so I don't quite get why this is happening still. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I think it will stop eventually, but I can't confirm that through direct experience (translation: I've never seen it actually stop raining) and I haven't studied that part of the code.

There are times when it looks like the rain has stopped but the rain sound continues. I thought I fixed that, but I may have to add another line of code for it. First I'll need to see it actually stops raining. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
