Help! Cannon Sounds very faint

ahedgpe

Landlubber
When I am sailing in 3rd person mode and fire the cannons they can barely be heard. I can somewhat hear them in 1st person mode, but they are very faint. Is there any way to adjust this (sound is all the way up in options). All other sounds are very distinct and easy to hear but not the cannons. Is there a work around or a way to change this?
Using Build 14 Alpha 7 Plus

This is because there's some file missing, if I remember correctly. I don't know what file anymore though. I recommend you send a PM to either <i>a simple virtual sailor</i> or <i>guiliootto</i>. I think one of them used to know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Would it work to go into RESOUCE/SOUNDS/OBJECTS/SHIPCHARGE and replace the cannon sounds with the origonals?

I don't think so; it's got to do with missing cannon sound cases in RESOURCE\INI\ALIAS\sound_alias.ini, I think. Compare the file you have now with the original Build 13 file. <a href="http://winmerge.org/" target="_blank">WinMerge</a> is a good help there.

Still no Luck....I compared the Build 13 and Build 14 Alpha 7 Plus sound_alias.ini and to the Build 14 Alpha 7 plus sound_alias.ini I added:

What would happen if I replace the entire Build 14 Alpha 7 Plus sound_alias.ini file with the Build 13 Final one? Would I lose several sounds in game or crash? Other than that, any other ideas?

Got it solved...for now! I backed up my origional file from Alpha 7 and copied and pasted Build 13 Final file. I now have full cannon sounds in game with NO crashes!

Good! You might've lost some new sounds though. You should be able to put them back with WinMerge. Strange that putting that code you posted earlier back didn't work. I thought that should fix it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

I sometimes think, that every pc has diferent version of PotC, so problem fixing is diferent for all pc... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sad" border="0" alt="icon_sad.gif" />

That's indeed what it seems like. But most of the times errors can be traced to a wrong installation order. After all, in the end the files on each computer SHOULD be the same. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

In that case the mods just don't end up being installed properly. I think most of the random issues can be attributed to either faults in the code, faults in the installation or hardware compatibility issues.

Or hust with that messingup with instalation order... It should be lower count of instalation bugs, when build will use self-instaler....

I tried to make the installation of the Build 14 Apha 8 WIP 2 versions to be pretty simple. Unfortunately I failed due to a mistake of mine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Definitly. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
Unfortunately it'll be a 1 GB download at least. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

No problem... Atleast will be little lower count of bugs then...

Lower chance of installation bugs anyway. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
