Game too easy?

This ain't a complaint, but I'm curious to find out how y'all think about this anyway. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I played the original Pirates! on several systems, Pirates! Gold and now the most recent incarnation. Am I the only one who feels that except for the original game the Pirates! series is just too easy? 15 years ago playing on swashbuckler you really had to know what you were doing. To the extent that I never finished a game on that level. With PG playing on swashbuckler was the only option for me, else it would've just become boring much too fast.

Now with SMP I've smoothly advanced to rogue in my first game without encountering any problems so far. Started the second game on the same level, now without fencing skill, still the fencing seems to be extremely easy and I think I'll have to advance to swashbuckler next time I divide up the plunder. I'm curioius to see if then the game will feel "right" or if the difficulty goes up frustratingly steep.

Any thoughts on this?

On the good old fashioned Amiga I always reached a score of 126 , get tons of acres, the most Beautyful girl, etc... In good old times it was hard work. The newest version is a bit to easy i think except of dancing. I played it from apprentice to rogue so far. I also don´t encounter any problems.

Next time I will start in 1680 as a Swashbuckler with medicine skill. Hope this would have any difficulty for me.

YES the game is to easy. (I play swashbuckler)

even att swashbuckler. <a href="http://www.addictedtopirates.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1089" target="_blank">http://www.addictedtopirates.com/forum/vie...opic.php?t=1089</a>

The minigames are allright besides the shipbattles which are way to easy.

besides that

1) It is to easy to get new crewmembers
(at least in the beginning of your career when you have no experience. You can build up an enormous crew on just a few months anyway.)

2) Far to easy to get promotions by the governor
(you also dont loose promotions so you can attack a town and in the same town repair you ships for free.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> )

3) Far to wasy to recieve 24 wealthpoints. I wish the wealthpoints werent limited.

It's an awesome game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> Sadly they just as with the original couldnt make it difficult enough...

Indeed, I often find myself starting on Rogue or Adventurer just so I enjoy the beginning years of my Pirates life <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> I find the hardest level punishes mistakes big time, attack the wrong ship and I end up stranded or in jail and the pirate hunters begin to become a massive drain early on if I attempt to sail the Spanish Main before fully kitted out. I guess deep down I kind of hope it stays almost too difficult to complete for me, as there should always be a level higher than the player can go <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> Shame you guys seem to have found it so easy, you could always try playing a game where you dont get crew or repairs from anyone but Pirate havens, I imagine that might turn out to be a big challenge, especially if you attack every nation going <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Hey, <i>I</i> didn't say Swashbuckler is too easy, I haven't tried it yet. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And yes, playing a game as a "real" pirate (against all nations) is definitely something to try out as well. It's great that this is now possible, what with the pirate havens and such.

Against all nations hm? This is A LOT of work man. Making the whole Caribbean English for example. The rich spanish towns like Vera Cruz are hard to conquer! Tell ye what. Use the super trainer and make the whole caribbean english <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Just for fun
