game not working, help meh

So when i start the game it loads for few secs and then it just gives me the background and it doesnt show the menu or anything. what do i have to do? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I think, it´s an problem with your graphics card. Are the newest drivers installed?

Problem could lies on Service Pack 2, probably? Anyone can back this up?

-All Drivers up to date?
-Does that probs only appear when you tried to play pirates or does thy also appear when you use other software or play other games?
-Disable all TSR Programs in your Taskmanager you don´t need before you start pirates
-Try to clean up up / repair your Pc with Tuneup

YArr! Just a wild guess, of course, but updating yer graphics driver may be de most likely solution. Go tew de ATI website and see if ye can locate a newer driver. Alternately, running Windows Update sometimes will grab a newer driver for you. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
 
Better yet, try the latest Omega drivers (www.omegadrivers.net).

Game running flawless here on an Ati Radeon 9800 Pro with Omega drivers and Win XP + SP2 (so it's got nothing to do with the service pack in my opinion).

No, because you're looking at the wrong site.

.net is correct and yes, seems it's down at the moment. Gues you'll have to be patient or try out the latest catalyst drivers from Ati in the meantime.

When you open up your XP Taskmanager before running pirates close all task you don´t really need. TSR means "remain in the memory of your PC".
