Found a Bug/Cheat

dunno if anyone's aware of this but a STRANGE thing happened to me today.
I had to divide up the plunder which you have to do occaisionally. Before doing so, i did what you always do, i went to the merchant and sold off all my goods, and then to the shipwright to sell off all my war galleons. Interesting thing is that when i was left with one indian canoe and two war galleons, when i tried to sell off the last two war galleons, it warned me that if i did so, i would lose X number of men. Curious, i said yes {after saving where i was just in case} and lo and behold, it got rid of the men, gave me the cash for the two sold ships, but keeping the indiian canoe as my only ship before dividing up the plunder i had almost no men left, and all the loot was divided between the very small crew that was left. Sort of a less sadistic way of getting rid of the crew unlike how we used to do it by killing them all off in battle. hope this helps someone out there

Hmmm, interesting! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> Thanks for the tip! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

BTW, <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> and welcome aboard, <b>mabus!</b> Have an ale! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/beer2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":beer" border="0" alt="beer2.gif" />

I thought this was a well known "bug"
Bug or cheat would be wrong to say, it's more of a convinience... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />
I mean: what good is a crew with no ship to sail them?

Well, it's not really a bug is it? I mean, a war canoe can only hold 50 men, if you have more than that, I guess you basically tell those men to take a hike. I suppose the bug comes in that those men should take their share when they leave.

The downside is when you start your next expedition, you will only have a war canoe. Though that could be an effective tactic. If you get hit with a single cannonball while in a war canoe, that's your fault.

Welcome aboard Mabus. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

This has been posted several times, I do it all the time myself. I had thought this was well known, or at least by the regulars at this site. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Any time you sell a ship and the remaining ships cannot support the number of men you have, the excess just wander back to the tavern. Does not have to by any particular ship. For example I use a Royal Sloop, holds 187, but when attacking a town I may have several ships and 400 pirates. After the attack, I simply sale all ships except the Royal Sloop and BOOM, right back to 187 pirates. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

The best part is, you still keep all the gold, they get nothing. So it also greatly improves crew morale. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Aye, welcome tew PA mate,I'd be also doing what GI Joe does, good strategy fer prolong'n divide de plunder <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

It only really matters if the crew is going to get a real low per man cut. It doesn't effect your money at all. You get a set percentage of the pot. For example, if you are playing on adventurer, your share of the pot is 20%. If the total plunder is 100,000, and you have 1000 men, you get 20,000 and each man gets 80. If you have 100,000 and and you have 10 men, you still only get 20,000, but each man gets 8,000. It doesn't help at all with your share, but if the crew is happy with thier share, you will be able to recruit more when starting the next trip, but there is not much difference between them getting 100 each and 1000 each, especially compared to loosing a Royal Sloop or a Frigate, and having to start with a war canoe.

Aye, sometimes ye ''ave te give up a good ship,aw well de life O' pirate not always easy <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I never sale my Royal Sloop. Spent too much time sailing around getting all the upgrades. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I only sale the other ships, either way I get back down to 187. Thats my only goal.. and trust me if you have 400+ crew that are content and BOOM, now you have 187 with the same amount of gold, they get a morale boost. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Thats all I am typing, not typing about my own personal wealth at all, I realise that has no bearing on it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Aye,Luv de Royal Sloop,after gett'n all de upgrades she be a fine ship,same wid POTC,usually most O de time I'd be use'n a American sloop <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
