Back a couple of years ago, Cap'n Drow posted about a fantastic little Indie game that he had ran across called Ancient Trader by Indie studio 4kids Games. It is not specifically a pirate game, but is focused on trading and exploration. Visually, the game looks absolutely gorgeous! I did play the demo a bit and was really impressed, this game had some serious potential! Apparently there have been some changes over the past couple of years and Swedish video game developer Legendo Entertainment has taken over. Today Legendo Entertainment issued a press release for the successor to Ancient Trader, Fortune Winds: Ancient Trader! Some of the new improvements to the game include multiplayer, improved AI, additional player avatars and save game functionality.

Sweden, July 6, 2012 – Legendo Entertainment today discovers whether the world is flat or – as some clearly deluded scientists would have us believe – round, as it sets sail on the high seas with Fortune Winds: Ancient Trader, a turn-based strategy game that takes its inspiration from nautical folklore and legend. The game is now available for Windows® users around the globe, so haul anchor and set a course for Origin or Gamersgate where the game can be purchased for USD $9.99/EUR €7.99/GBP £6.99.
Fortune Winds: Ancient Trader is available in the following languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish and Russian.

The successor to indie cult-hit Ancient Trader, Fortune Winds: Ancient Trader contains all of the captivating gameplay and features that made the original game so compelling. Furthermore, it embellishes the experience with improved AI, additional player avatars and save game functionality. On its original release in 2010, Ancient Trader was lavished with praise from highly respected gaming publications Eurogamer and Edge Magazine, which both awarded the game an impressive 8/10.

Actually looks like an interesting game. I read a review of it over at gamers gate though where they mention that each games goes for 5 minutes. Probably not what we're looking for.

In saying that, love the art style

Yeah, it is unfortunately not a very in depth game, although the multiplayer aspect may add a bit. I haven't played this one at all.

I do absolutely love the style of the the graphics, they are absolutely beautiful! The fact that they are based off an actual style of an old map maker adds quite a bit of authenticity in my opinion.
