On a more practical note, you HAVE to retire after you divide the plunder if your health is "Failing". Your health is mostly a function of age, but there are other factors (healing herbs, medicine skills and the `oft-rumoured`-`but-never`-confirmed number of duels).

There is no real way to deal with such things - the only advice I can give you is get stuff done quickly and try to get to the stage where you have enough gold per man (at least 1000) so you never HAVE to divide . . . the men might be surly, but they are never mutinous!

You´ll see that with advancing age you´ll get slower, which is terribly fatal in duells. If you get constantly beaten, it´s better to retire, but if not, why, just go on. Drake was at sea until he was 56 years old.

Aye,ye never die in SMP,so even if ye get beat ye can still continue. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I guess then that your skills eventually bottom out (instead of continually deteriorate) and so you can function in the game and continue on.
