Sorry to say but the fix doesnt work, still getting runtime errors i did 4 times a new install of the game and the build 12 patch but still not working i hope someone can fix this because for now im not installing it again every time it takes 30 minutes to install and so i been sitting here waiting for 2 hours and still not working.
 
Perhaps NathanKell will be able to look at this for you, Cyberops, AFAIK it should be working.

I couldn't even install, after a while the installer said it couldn't access buildsettings.h and exited <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ib012.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cry" border="0" alt="ib012.gif" /> . Might be a problem with the dowload, because I have a slow connection on my gaming machine, and it seems to interrupt after a given idle time (btw, why is that?).
Is anyone still working on an installation package that doesen't need an online connection?

And it doesn't seem to work properly either. I'll try again some other time...

I've got this Thursday off work, so I'll spend a bit of time seeing if Build12 works OK on a clean installation of European POTC.

BS.h is jumbled in Notepad but with other editing software it looks OK.
I use ConTEXT from <a href="http://www.context.cx/" target="_blank">http://www.context.cx/</a> it's not freeware more "donateware"

Makes me feel real stupid.
 
I can find BuildSettings.h, but like Sirus_Darke said: It's jumbled in Notepad. Can anyone do something about that? It used to work just fine. It does work in Wordpad though. Weeeiiiiird!!

It works ! Downloded it on top of my "English" Ubisoft version with Build11. The download took my ISDN modem "only" 90 minutes. It aborted early with the message "can't open buildsettings.h" but a second try went smooth.
Is it possible that the download time depends on the amount of servertraffic? Or does the installer skip some downloads if the files from Build11 are already there?

My buildsettings.h has the usual format, but I had the reported "`all-in`-`one-line`" format before, in the build11 DailyCrewUpdate.c . Yes, Pieter, that IS weird. Maybe it's some notepad setting?

If you look into the PotC directories with the Win explorer, what date do the newest files have?
 
Inez, do you have more than one POTC install?

CCC: Yes, I believe MJ's installer does skip `already-installed` files.

Regarding the BS.h problems. Let me upload one to the FTP and could one of you folks with the `one-line` problem download that and see if it's the same?

Wait a sec--I seem to recall some stuff about LF's and CRs in the CVS docs, so maybe when MJ pulled the files from the server they didn't automatically reconvert into DOS format?
 
The installer <i>does</i> skip files that have already been installed.

I verified the formatting of the file in the Build installer, and everything is ship shape and Bristol fashion.

i have a wee problem with the dialog or sumthing like that i can't talk to street merchants/ stall keepers and every time i walk into the Guvs join that rhoul Reims F__K wit tries to talk to me and from then on i can't move.

CCC, newest file is install.log (from the day I downloaded build 12). Indeed I see now it has an entry in it about build12, and then "installation aborted". At least that explains why nothing is there.

I'll just try downloading again, if you got it working there is hope. The thing you say about the installer skipping files - does that mean I have to deinstall build 11 first ? Start with a vanilla POTC installation?

Nathan, yes, I have two POTC installations. One has the "installation aborted" in the log and the other's newest file (besides logs and the .b files form last time I played) is buildinfo.txt from build 11 (april 2004).
