Different Style Weapons

Is it possible to make weapons other than swords/pistols?
Maybe a musket and if you equip it you cant equip a sword BUT it can also be used as a melee weapon (with a bayonet or somethin)
Or is it possible to make a spear/spike weapon?
 
Well, you could make a blunderbuss type of pistol (longer barrel than the grapeshot pistol) but a musket is unfortunately beyond us as none of us can hack into the animation to make the moves necessary for firing a musket. The only actions available for using a newly designed weapon is to fire it like a pistol or swing it like a sword.

Now if you (or anyone!) can figure out a way to change the animation so we can use a musket or a pike in the game, that would be GREAT!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />
 
uh...couldnt we use a model and texture of a hand on the acctual gun and put it of screen? so it would fire like the normal pistol, but look like a gun with a hand attached to it..jus make the hand long enough to come back and look like your holding it...

**like putting a hand on the acctual musket, not adding an animation...
 
<b>Corsairmvk</b>, the hand model would still be attached when the musket was sitting on your belt then. Plus it might not match the shooting char's model.

Interesting thought - how about a chest brace that is attached to the musket? I know it's not "period" or even logical, but it <i>could</i> be something that, if still attached to the weapon when it wasn't being fired, could at least be explained away... ???
 
Was it my imagination or does the PC swing his sword a different way depending on which type of sword it is -- a set of hacks and slashes for sabers, and a set of stab animated motions for rapiers? Have I seen right (it's been a while since I thort I seen it), and if I have, are these properties than can be changed or adapted to new weapon types -- firing a musket or stabbing with a bayonet, or ensuring you only hack with an axe and never poke?

I think the Player Character swings his sword depending on both the type of the sword and his fencing skill.
Would anyone be able to make a sword which is just like the one Commodore Norrington uses? The Rapier is nearest in looks but its just too damn short. Thanks to any the reply.

Have you tried having a flick through the modding wiki? I think there is a good tutorial in there on adding items like swords.

AFAIK it's simply random what swing the player (or anyone else) uses. Just keep hitting attack in a quiet place and you should see all anims.
