deferagment is waste of time?

sorry i didnt find anywhere else to ask this or rather ask for other's experiance
in my 10 years of video gaming i never found defragmenting usefull it never help me to speed thing up if it was slow it remained slow if it was fast it remained fast why every game say deferagment your hard drive did u guys had a better experiance maybe i am missing something

Defragging is essential to all computers. It is not about speed but in keeping the files intact. As they get scattered across the hard drive they get fragmented and sooner or later information gets lost. This leads to errors and crashes. Eventually the program will have to be deleted and re-installed without regular defragging.
