Crash installing build 13

Hello everbody!
I am sorry that my first post in this forum, which I have been checking for quite some time now, is not coming from a happy occasion. The problem is that when I am installing build 13 over a clean install of POTC I get a Microsoft error message "This program has executed ...". The crash occurs when build is copying file galeon skin3_50.tga.tx. I tried to reinstall build but I get the same crash. I can run the game but of course because of this crash the textures of ships are missing (in example: I am standing on a pier looking at the sea and I see my ship without the textures). Previously I had a POTC install with build 12.1 and it worked wonderfully. I downloaded build 13 from Pieter Boelen`s site. Maybe the file is somehow corrupt but I doubt it. I will download it again but not until next weekend.
I surely hope someone has a solution to this problem as I would love to play POTC with this new build.
 
That is a very weird problem. I know the file isn't corrupt. It installs just fine on my PC and so it does on the computers of most other people. Do you happen to have access to any other computer where you can try it as well?

If you keep having trouble, try this instead: Install Build 12.1, then download the Pre Build 13 Base version and install that. Then download the Build 13 Update 1 file and install that. That should get you up-to-date without actually having to use the Build 13 installer file.
 
Hmmm, that does sound as if the file was somehow corrupted. I have not experienced that on my install. I suggest redownloading it and hopefully that will take care of the problem.
 
I tried on another computer and the same problem. I will download the file again and also try the longer way you Pieter suggested. I will not let some minor nuissance stop me from playing POTC in full pirate glory. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" /> And thank you alot for posting your advices so quickly.
 
Actually, pirate country version. That is because I live in a small european backwater county where we have VERY few computer games stores and because POTC is considered an old game by now I could not buy it. I am not proud of it as I like to support good game producing companies. Hell, I was even forced to pirate version of the first Sea dogs when it came out as it was not in any of the stores. And still is not today.
But, where do I check what country version my pirate version has?
 
Well, if you find any Ubisoft logos anywhere, then it is the EU version - if there are none, it's the US release.
 
Didn`t find any logos, no movies or anything in the readme file, so I guess it is a US version. Ubisoft was a publisher of POTC when it first came out in Europe or are they just distributing a sold out version (at half a price)?
 
Redownloaded build 13, everything worked fine, game plays ok. It seems it was just something wrong with my downloaded file.

i also downloaded it twice but can't install because of this error, got to do it the hard way then <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
