Controlling Pivot of rigging

Hi, been working on a ship, but the gaff sail pivots too far to the side of the ship (about 90 degrees to either side). Does anyone know how to control were it stops?

Thanks.

i've seen that it points far more logical in realistic sailing mode. not perfect, but still better. but i guess you mean that that happens when the wind is straight on the stern right?

I am on realistic sailing, it's the Brigantine's rigging that I am trying to adapt but when you turn the ship at a certain angle away from the wind the gaff sail swings out far too much. Is there any settings that can restrict/adjust the pivot of the gaff?

I would post a helpful reply if I knew one. Unfortunately I don't. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

you mean it pivots 90 degrees to the ship when you turn away from the wind? As in the wind used to be dead astern and you are turning away in that since? Techincally, if the wind is dead astern, the gaffsail should be almost 90 degrees from your ship's sailing direction anyway.

it would be more effective if the gaff would be 45 degrees to the wind in reality. it would give far better pressure to the ship, making it go faster than when the gaff would be at an angle of 90 degrees.
