Cleaning it up

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and this mod.

I really like that you are able to sail the black pearl and the flying dutchman however,
I just started the mod/game and I noticed that there are very many bugs in the game..

For instance, standing on the ship, I see like 1 row of guns, when going to another deck, I see more rows of guns that arent really there...
Also when I go to Sea Mode, I suddenly have a different type of ship?

Same happens when I entered a fort,
when I got inside, it wasn't on a realistic same level, I walked all the way up to the top of the fort, pretty high up, and I walked out, suddenly I was in the middle of the street standing outside a door?

Don't get me wrong, I totally would like this mod, but maybe it becomes too big before the things have been cleaned and finished before something new is implemented? Maybe it becomes just too big?

Who is ever going to play 20 diff types of models? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
I was hoping maybe I could take a part in this mod asswel?
Share some of my Idea's and solutions if you want.

I have worked on other mods before, for a different online game named Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

If the mod team is interested you can ask for my email. (Don't want to share it to everyone <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> SPAM sucks)

Goodbye and keep up the good work <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

don't really sound like bugs to me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> just things that might need improving.

Wolfenstein is a fun game. Welcome aboard. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

waaaaaaait a sec. haven't i seen you before? well, i should have. there are about 20 sparrow's around here. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

The first question would be: Which game version are you using? Build 13? Build 14 Alpha 6? Build 14 Alpha 7?

We know that sometimes the interior locations don't fit exactly with the exterior models, but I don't think these are bugs, really. We just don't have interior models that truly fit with the exterior models. So we just try to put the models we do have to the best use we can. In the original game you couldn't walk on your ship's deck at all, so we added the ability to visit some locations aboard the ship.

If you could give some clear examples of the problems you encounter, that'd be most appreciated. In any case we could very much use another modder. At the moment we don't have many people left modding the game, so everything goes pretty much dead slow. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I am using the latest version, alpha 7 fix.

And yes, maybe the term "bugs" is wrong as I am referring to the interior model not fitting with the actual exterior model <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
But it IS great the possible is already build in <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />.

Don't know if you saw me before tough, I am new here, 2 days, but could be.
And yes, there was one small name twist possiblility left using a dot after Captain <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Srry for my original approach <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Anyway, I would like to help witht his great mod, altough I don't know what the tools are you guys are using.
(I have 3ds max 9 tough, and I am a fairly good modeler. I would like to help matching new interiours with exteriours <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> )

Maybe I can even make a new animation when you fight with your fists.
Just tell me what to do and with what and I am all ears <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Maybe I can also help with rebuilding some towns?
The new towns are great, and I love you can walk in the fort, but I noticed some buildings merged into 1, with a half window sticking out the side wall.
(Because I was just playing like 2 min, I dont know if there would be more)

Anyway, maybe I can help cleaning some minor issues up.
Is there like a admin who's msn/email/xfire or whatever I can have for better talkin'?

Good day <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

the fist animations fit reasonably well at the moment, actually. but it would be nice to give an enemy a big wallop on the chin. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

The program used by the original game developers was Maya with a plugin. Maya 5.0 can be found on the PotC Files FTP. See <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10288" target="_blank">here</a> for the login information. Nobody here knows how to use the program though. You might want to PM Kazeite who is probably the most knowledgable about putting models into the game at the moment, even though he works on ship models. We also have Inez Dias' Tool, which can be used for modifying the game's GM files and exporting them to and importing them from VRML. That way you can use 3DS MAX for editing the models. Unfortunately this conversion process seems to have its bugs, because any ship saved this way will have the ligthing mirrored: If the sun is on one side, the other side of the ship is lighted as if the sun is shining on it.

That would be pretty neat. Nobody knows how to modify/make new animations, but if you could figure it out, that'd be great. I think there is an option in Inez Dias' Tool to do it, but I don't think anybody ever really used it.

You might want to have a look <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10382&st=40" target="_blank">here</a>. Ludwig Longhair and Capitan Caceres also had the idea of rebuilding some towns. CouchcaptainCharles proved it is possibly to modify existing town models using Inez Dias' Tool as seen in Port au Prince and Santo Domingo. We also put in several models from the Age of Pirates game for the use in Tortuga and Pointe a Pitre. And Thomas the Terror made some retextures and modifications of towns as well for Philipsburg, Marigot, Havana and Santiago.

There is also the BuildingSet mod which enables you to put buildings anywhere, which is used for some additional buildings in Marigot, Philipsburg and Antigua. These BuildingSet models tend to look somewhat weird and you can walk through the walls, but like we always say: Having that mod is still better than not having it and at least these towns now do look different.

We have Pirate_KK who you can access through the PM system and Maximus who has a crappy internet connection and is hardly available through e-mail or otherwise. At the moment Pirate_KK is the modpack compiler who puts all mods together into one modpack. I used to be the modpack compiler for a year or so, but I had to stop because I went to work on a cruiseship for 6 months. I have returned now and am trying to contribute as much as I can. Perhaps after Pirate_KK finished Alpha 8, I will pick up the position of modpack compiler again for Alpha 9. You can reach me through PM or e-mail or you can add me to your MSN: <a href="mailto:pieter_pdm_boelen@hotmail.com">pieter_pdm_boelen@hotmail.com</a>.
