Changes to the Sell Loot button

I did some changes to the Sell Loot button to make it more useful in the game. If you have any questions, or have comments or suggestions for improvement, I'd be glad to hear them.

The Sell Loot button now sells jewelry, indian trinkets and minerals, but does not sell these items if they change skills in any way. If additional items in these categories are added later, they will be handled automatically by this change. Quest items will not be sold, nor items that the merchants do not buy or sell.

I've also added the ability to sell blades that your character probably won't find useful. The settings for this have a few tweaks, and you have to set SELL_JUNK_BLADES to 1 in BuildSettings.h for it to work. Selling "junk blades" is turned off by default.

The default settings (with this mod turned on) are set up so that once your character reaches level 5, Sell Loot will sell any blades with max damage less than 20. At level 9, blades with less max damage than 25 are sold. At level 13, blades with less max damage than 30 are sold. Blades with max damage of 30 or more are never sold using Sell Loot. At character level 1 through 4, daggers will be sold, but not the poison daggers, as merchants do not deal in those. Blades will not be sold with Sell Loot if they have piercing or blocking of over 40.

You can adjust the character levels at which the various damage blades are sold. And you can turn off one or more of the automatic sales by setting the character level for those blades to a high value like 999. The blade damages of 20, 25 and 30 aren't changed in BuildSettings.h.

My reasoning for the way I set it up was, at character level 5, for example, you'll be finding a lot of blades with max damage of 20 or more, so you probably won't want to keep any blades with max damage of less than 20. At character level 9, you'll have a lot of blades with max damage of 25 or more, so blades with less than this won't be very useful to you. At level 13, you may not want to keep blades with less max damage than 30. If you want to keep these blades (at any level), either give them to an officer or put them in your weapons locker on board your ship before you do Sell Loot at a merchant.

If you have questions on specific settings for your play style, this is the place to ask. I'll be glad to tell you how to set the character levels. And if you have suggestions for improvements, I'd love to hear them. If you don't like the idea at all, you can turn it off. Let me know about this too, if you like.

If there's enough interest, I might add guns and armor to the Sell Loot function as well. Just let me know what you think is an appropriate level to sell various items.

Maybe with guns, you base the sell loot off which gun you have equiped. Any 'lesser gun' than what is equiped, will be sold. Only an idea.

One thing I have noticed when I am searching for a new blade... I pay more attention to "Blocking" number than max damage. I will not buy (or keep) a sword with blocking of 5% even if max damage is 40.

I guess max damage is important for the weapons locker, because your crew (and officers) are idiots when it comes to blocking, so having them inflict most damage is more important than defending themselves. However for personal weapons, I like the higher blocking, because it allows me to survive fights. Hehehe.

Thats my only feedback on it.

For me, I find a Solingen Rapier and use that. Got a very nice blocking indeed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> But the other swords are useful for your officers and weapons locker, as you've figured out.

I wouldn't want to equip a Solingen Rapier then sell any blade that's not as good! Guns would have a similar problem. You might want them for your boarding crews. Anyone who gives an officer a gun deserves what happens. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
