Capture Screen

I get the version of the capture screen without ship data as reported by leongt. This is with Supermod plus all five updates installed in sequence, over a fresh installation of AOP with no official patches.

Also, once I've clicked on "Capture" and assigned an officer, both "Swap" and "Capture" are greyed out. To have any chance of taking immediate command of the new prize ship, I have to remember to click on "Swap" first, <i>then</i> "Capture".

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> Greyed out happens when you don't have Passenger Officers, not enough officers
in case you captured before and not enough crew!
You don't have to swap, as you can change ships or Captains in the F2 Menu!
Click on SHIPS on the bottom of menu and the settings are on top right side.
This is where you can pay your crew, so they don't get grumpy etc.
I would'nt worry about that empty space to much, as it just lacks some info about
the ship!
We posted a complete Walkthru in the AGE OF PIRATES Forum, in the Subforum AGE OF PIRATES
GENERAL DISCUSSION!
So do yourself a favour and have a good read. Most of the questions are answered there!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

I think you misunderstand. I have enough free officers and crew. Both "Swap" and "Capture" are white, I can choose to do either. I click "Capture" and assign an officer to command the prize ship. Returning to the main screen, both "Capture" and "Swap" are now grey - I can not take over the prize ship right away. This can be annoying if I'm in the middle of a battle, I've just captured the best ship from the enemy side and I now want to use it against them. Doing it the other way round, clicking "Swap", <i>then</i> clicking "Capture" to effectively recapture your own ship, does work, although I'm sure there was one occasion where I'd swapped to the enemy ship and then couldn't retake my own. And yes, there was enough crew, otherwise "Capture" wouldn't have been white in the first place. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Using F2, Ships to swap ship is fine if you're on the world map or in port, but does odd things if you try to do it in the middle of a battle. I've sometimes done it at the end of the duel with the enemy captain but before going to the "Pillage" screen - if I know I can't capture the enemy ship but I've got a lesser ship in my fleet, I'll put myself in command of the lesser ship, go to the "Pillage" screen, and click on "Swap" to exchange my smaller prize for a better one.

I know exactly what sort of information is supposed to be in the blank space because it's there in official version 1.50. It's quite useful to know how good the enemy ship is before I decide whether to swap it with my own or just let it sink, especially if I don't have enough crew for both so I have to choose one or the other...

I've already read the walkthrough. It does not address the above points.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Grey,
I have'nt realy expieriencend that, but will have to try that one
und see what happens. There are quite a few bugs in the
Supermod. Crashing the game during battle is one of the worst!
Patch 1.5 is more stable but does not have nearly as many features,
like to be able to walk into the jungle and enter houses etc.
.......and nobody around to fix things! Looks like we like it or lump it! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

I've had the game crash to desktop in both Supermod and official version 1.50. I can't say for sure which one does it most frequently.

For the record, I'm not complaining about the Supermod. I'm reporting bugs for information; if the people who work on the Supermod are still willing to fix bugs, hopefully the information will be useful to them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate_plain.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p3" border="0" alt="pirate_plain.gif" />

I think you misunderstand

you click on capture -> NOW the ship is yours

you get back and the capture button is greyed out -> why do you want to re-capture your ship yet again?

I don't, although it may be useful to revisit the "Capture" screen to review the crew and officer assignments - especially since you can't see what crew is on each ship on the "Pillage" screen because the data sections are blank.

But what I do want is to board and capture a bigger ship than my own, take immediate command of her to continue the battle, and leave an officer and minimal crew on my original ship so I can sell her later.

I click on "Capture" -> NOW the ship is mine.
I get back and the "Swap" button is greyed out -> I can't take personal command of the new ship.

What usually works is if I do it the other way round.

I click on "Swap" -> NOW the big ship is mine and my old tub belongs to the enemy.
I get back and the "Capture" button is still white -> I re-capture my old tub and put an officer in charge.

I don't want to have to re-capture my own ship but the game seems to give me little choice. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> I don't think there is anybody fixing things
in AOP in any Version!!! You have to grin and bear it!
CyberOps does not have the time, otherwise he would visit
this forum! Check Galaxy Productions.net
for any info! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

Well it must be a bug because I installed from a fresh 1.41, supermod, updates 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, then starfart removal.

In that order and I get the blank version of the screen.

For what it's worth, I have also installed SuperMod in the correct order, to the newest update. Same bug, same issue. Weird stuff and highly annoying, but I can deal with it. Getting better at taking on multiple ships with my little tub, though.

There is no need for NOCD when you install SM & updates!
It's there already!!!!!!!!!
By Installing the NOCD patch, your introducing more BUGS,
as this replaces the EXE file!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.......And this was created for Patch 1.5! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/slap.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":slap" border="0" alt="slap.gif" />

I understand that you are addressing Cep directly, but I want to be clear. I did not install the noCD, as there is no need for it with the SuperMod. As point of fact, the only modification to my game has been the SuperMod. The issue does persist, however.

Let's try to find a common theme that could be causing these issues. For instance, does anyone else that is having these problems have their game installed in a non standard subdirectory? Mine is in <b>C:\Program Files\Akella\Age of Pirates - Caribbean Tales</b>.

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Could be. I've certainly installed into a non-standard directory, "C:\Program Files\Games\Age of Pirates - Caribbean Tales".

Next time I have to reinstall, I'll try letting it use the default directory and see if any bugs fail to appear.

We may have a winner. I'm searching the SuperMod files with AstroGrep, for directory specific strings. I'll let you know if anything pans out.

[edit] Meh. I've found nothing directory specific, though that doens't mean it's not sneaking about. :p

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> My Install goes like this:
E:/Program Files/Playlogic/Age of Pirates-Caribbean Tales
Note that I'm using my second drive, as some poeple do not
realise that C: can get to full at times and should give Windows enough space
to operate! It is a non issue if in posession of a big harddrive. I run two 80 GB Drives
and allways make sure that C: has 30% free!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

I used a default path for my installation but I am running XP64 so it appends (x86) to the directory name.

Got the same problem with mine too. I am going to reinstall it all fresh and clean again. Then i am going to go into the files and check for anything that may be able to be modded with Text editing that can fix this problem. I got a feeling an INI file has a f'ed up string in it and can be fixed with common knowledge. Ill coppy the original files before i put on super mod and look for it. ill keep yall updated if i find something!
