Seems Captain Blood is still being worked on, although not for the PC:

That last one looks a little "Oblivionesque", methinks.

They've also released a new trailer:

http://www.strategyi...ovie/36156.html

Almost looks like it's part The Matrix mixed with a heck of a lot of supernatural wonkiness, and a pinch of pirate. And a whole lotta cheesy mid-80's "shoot the ships as they float by" action. Not to mention outlandishly overpowered handguns - Freedom Arms didn't start up until the modern day, people! A flintlock pistol is NOT a Casull .454!

And where'd the Salad Shooter go?!?!? Our beloved veggie cannon is gone!! This whole thing stinks...like rotten cabbage!! :woot

:? The graphics look good... :eek:k

:wp

yup, thats all i can say about that :shrug

Nice find Stallion, I have been looking for a new trailer for this one! :onya

The graphics engine has been given a serious overhaul, the lighting and shadows look great! I can't say the same for the content though, I agree with Stallion completely, everything just looks out of place. I was thinking more along the lines of "Conan, Steampunk Pirate of the Caribbean!" They also did a good job of trying to make the soundtrack sound like the POTC movie soundtrack, without making it sound like the movie sound track!

I'm very disappointed in the direction they decided to go with this one. 6 years of development and this is the best they can do? According to the 1C website, and the end of the trailer, it is still being released for the PC, but it won't ever be played on mine.

I think they took the guy's name a bit too serious.
Rather than it being a game of the historical fiction pirate Captain Peter Blood,
a renowned physician turned slave turned gentleman pirate,
they took it as being a random pirate whose name is BLOOD.
Therefore: GO VIOLENCE!

The graphics look wonderful, the settings look LAME, LAME, LAME!
Blood verywhere, weird-shaped blades, huge all-powerful guns,
enemy ships explode when hit merely once, fancy supernatural light effects,
what MORE do we NOT want in a pirate game?

It appears that the developers of this game started out on the right track
and then went COMPLETELY in the wrong direction. It's sickening!

The sad thing is, I can see this being a hit with the typical "console only" gamer. That seems to be all they want, lots of blood and eye candy! Pull the trigger till something explodes, or slash at it with big swords till it stops bleeding. Thinking for yourself is becoming a lost art.

I will admit tho, there is one thing I like about this game, tho its completly unfeasable, unrealistic...but AWSOME

The spinning double barrel gattling cannon of DOOM!!!!

According to the 1C website, and the end of the trailer, it is still being released for the PC, but it won't ever be played on mine.

I just assumed it wasn't made for the PC, and never checked 1C's website - I didn't make it to the end of the trailer. :rofl

Another,"could have been a great game" bites the dust
This one's off the wish list for me :ng

An utter abomination. :facepalm I love the rapidfire blunderbuss flintlock pistol and I can tell you that metal fragments always fly off my blades everywhere when I sword fight. I was hoping the ships at least would be cool, but the late 19th century gaff topsails on their warships are an absolute abortion.

I'll leave this one to all the future axe murderers we're breeding. Thagarr put it best. "Conan, Steampunk Pirate of the Caribbean" . That's killer man! :rofl

I'll still probably wind up getting it just so I have a copy of it. But it won't see much modding done I don't think. Still might be fun to play in an over the top Dynasty Warriors as a pirate kind of way though.

Cap'n Drow

I'll probably end up buying a copy, too. xD: Just to have it mainly, but it might be kind of interesting in a Swashbucklers: Blue vs Grey kind of way.

Its almost like they are trying to do a pirate version of the force is unleashed without the force haha :rofl

"The Force is strong in this one, yes...well...sort of."

...

"Okay, not really."

...

"A teensy bit, maybe."

Strategy Informer's Captain Blood Preview: http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/captainblood/previews.html

Sounds pretty lame, and they didn't even MENTION the fully misguided-ness of the concept! :shock

Strategy?? What strategy??

There are some things in life that defy logic.

Yup, I think that pretty much says it all right there!

Over at Gametrailers, they have a Captain Blood E3 interview with 1C Communication Director Anatoli Subotin. I must admit, there are some things I see in this preview that I do like, but I don't think they overcome the opinion I already have of what I have seen so far.
