IS update Wednesday 16 August 2006 stable for play,or is it for test only?And I heard that august update will have toggle for generating items based on char lvl.How to use this?
 
The Wednesday 16 August is more-or-less stable, but there are still some highly annoying bugs left. The worst is probably the <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8011" target="_blank">Ghost Ships</a> bug.

The items being linked to the characters level is on by default, so you don't have to do anything yourself except install the update.

First of all, great work lads! you made a game that i haven't played for ages so much better! I wish i registered when i first had a look at this site, way back when POTC came out.

But now to my question: what's in the August 21 update? i'm wondering since my game is pretty stable at the moment, apart from odd Ghost Ship encounter and minor bugs...
what does it consist of? i couldn't find a readme.

PS do i just unpack it to POTC folder or should i also run .bat file?
 
If you use the 16 August update at the moment, you won't need to run any bat files. There is a changelist for the 21 August update <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=5586&view=findpost&p=158945" target="_blank">here</a>. Unfortunately there's one gamekilling bug in there caused by a typo. Fix is attached to this post.

hey, pieter, i hope that you can once again help me... I extracted the 21-8 update unto my old files... and then it came up with an abnormal program termination... it works if i copy the old files unto the program (so i effectively am running a 16-8 update)...

Get ShipWalkFix.zip three posts up. That'll fix it. Sorry for this.

DOWNLOADED FILE GOES TO program\sea_ai folder replace ShipWalk.c file with the fixed one. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Open sea_ai\ShipWalk.c and replace "Manowar3_walk_walk.c" with "Manowar3_walk.c".

quick question mate, after installing both 21aug update and the fix now the game crashes randomly when trying to quicksave, entering town from port etc... any ideas what might be the cause of that?
