Build 14 Alpha 8 WIP 2 PIRATE_KK

I have made another new Alpha version for you people to try. Since we currently have two different versions that still need to be merged at some point, we'll also be releasing two versions of Alpha 8 WIP 2. This is the second of those versions, containing Pirate_KK's latest modding work for as far as I have it. It contains such mods as the Selectable Storylines mod, the Period mod, a lot of new soldier skins by Thomas the Terror and the first parts of Bartolomeu o Portugues' new main quest.

<i><b>Download:</b></i>
<a href="http://www.piratesahoy.net/build/Build%2014%20Alpha%208%20WIP/b14_alpha8_wip2_pirate_kk.7z" target="_blank">b14_alpha8_wip2_pirate_kk.7z</a> (27,7 MB)

<b><i>Installation order:</i></b>
1) Install Build 14 Alpha 8 WIP 2 MAXIMUS correctly (see <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showtopic=11852" target="_blank">here</a>)
2) Recommended to make a COPY of the Maximus installation
3) Remove ALL soldier model, head, animation and texture files from your game:
- Search your RESOURCE folder for terms like "sold" and "sol" and remove the files that apply
4) Extract the b14_alpha8_wip2_pirate_kk.7z file to your game folder with <a href="http://www.7-zip.org/download.html" target="_blank">7-Zip</a>

<i><b>Known issues:</b></i>
- The Customize Character interface has not yet been made
- Lag upon killing the soldier in the fort
- Lag when walking over a corpse locator

Please post all your comments related to this Alpha version in this thread.

I managed to upload the file to the ModDB myself by uploading it straight from the FTP. See <a href="http://www.moddb.com/mods/9269/potc-build-mod/downloads/10774/build-14-alpha-8-wip-2-pirate-kk" target="_blank">here</a>. It's still awaiting authorization though and there are no download mirros available yet. If anybody could make some more mirrors, that would be most appreciated. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

I have been unable to establish whether that periods mod ships_init.c file actually does anything or notas of yet. Hopefully people will be able to find out. On thing's for sure: It's not done yet, because there's some ships without the period mod code block. That might be the reason for me seeing some corvettes and frigates in the first period: Early Explorers.

i signal a really bad bug , when i start the game i clik on "option" but i dont go in, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> and it do that for all button i i clik on option <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

in + i see that when i run the runme.bat (the last in attached file of the other topic), it delete the buildsetting.h <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

That often causes cascade of other things which must be done - for example, I found out that whole shipberhing system wasn't fully extended to support <i>all</i> new islands (I mean not only Curacao, Aruba and Eleuthera, but other "new", like Hispaniola, Cuba, etc., as well).

Problem with the options screen is indeed confirmed. Won't open for me either. It's the following line causing the problem:<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->void MarkBox(string optName, int boxIndex)
{
    for(int i=0; i<CheckForStringsCount(optName); i++)
    {
        if(sti(i+1)==boxIndex)
        {
            CreateScrollCheckers(optName,"ScrollCheckerPic",i,GetNameFromScroll(optName, -1),COLOR_RED,true); // <== This line
        }
    }
}<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->Beats me why. Not sure how to fix. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_confused.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="icon_confused.gif" />

Pirate_KK, can you please try out that ships_init.c file attached to the third post in this thread?

1) if i cant change option i cant play because i need always changing keys & other things so i want to know<b> if i can do a change for doing working </b>; or i want to know <b>if i can copy the option of one of my other game</b> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

2) is it normal that the buildsetting is <u>deleted by the new runme.bat </u>? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

1) You can change your controls in PROGRAM\BuildDefaultControls.c. However, this might not take effect without pressing the "Reset Controls to Default" button which you can't access. However, you can also directly modify the <i>options</i> file in your main game folder with Notepad.

2) The BuildSettings.h file in your main game folder is removed, because it's moved back into the PROGRAM folder. This to prevent confusion. If the game really needs a file that's not there, the game won't run at all.

oki <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> i will do the things and will test thx

EDIT:
1) i saw that the "option" & "config" are the same of one of my game i copy (i saved the other <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> )
2) thx i dint saw <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> i went to other file in programm but i didnt saw <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

You can copy another game version's <i>options</i> file safely into any other game version, I think. In the case of the latest game versions that have the Advanced Options (BuildSettings) interface ingame, I think doing that will even retain most of your settings from the other game version.

it was what i did and had in my mind <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

Cool. Once we manage to completely finish that, the periods mod should really add a better atmosphere to the game! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
BTW: Weapon also did quite a lot of work on the file. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

Downloaded this ontop of Maximus download. (haven't done the ships_init.c yet though)

Played through the quest roughly the same as I did in the Maximus 14.8 version, (noticed the traders seem to have got a bit stinky mean on what they have available - need to check my build settings for "more generous portions" [stuff available] <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> )
Got to the Greenford part, where I was having the "get on my ship" (CTD) problem yesterday.

GOT ON MY SHIP <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> and sailed off into the sunset. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Have to stop for a while now - but will keep you posted as the game progresses.

Changed some settings - traders and the like.
Started a new game - now get this when I try to land at Jamaica.

COMPILE ERROR - file: Locations\init\QuestLocations.c; line: 11
Undeclared identifier: ISLAND_02_COLONY_01
RUNTIME ERROR - file: storyline\standard\\Locations\init\QuestLocations.c; line: 1086
function must return value
RUNTIME ERROR - file: storyline\standard\\Locations\init\QuestLocations.c; line: 1086

Also note that dialog reverts back to an earlier version - and Billy Brock is not present.

Oh crap. There's a bunch of files that have to be removed from the KK version. That is one of them. I don't have the list of the files that should be removed though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Yep. Very true. For more information on that, see <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?s=&showtopic=11653&view=findpost&p=241358" target="_blank">this</a> post of Pirate_KK's.

I had found the story line folder and have been "hacking" my way through it.
This link will make it a lot easier I hope - (and let me see how good/bad my logic assumption were <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> )
So far I've got Jack to the Island I want but he wont go to the specific locator i want, nor are there any soldiers present on the island, and with the problems as mentioned in previous posts here, it is a bit of a struggle. But the above link may well help me out there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
At the moment I have taken the Maximus version and am pushing KKK files across as I find I need them.
That way I hope to minimise the conflict between them.
We will see. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
