Now I think its time for some much needed housecleaning of old and dated sticky posts yay!!!
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I quite agree. I need to remove unnescessary files from my HD, from my webspace and perhaps from the FTP as well. And then we also need to unsticky some old posts as well. Will take some time to clean things up.

<!--quoteo(post=172596:date=Nov 19 2006, 09:34 PM:name=IncredibleHat)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IncredibleHat @ Nov 19 2006, 09:34 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
Roughly 280 issues were opened during getting build 13 wrapped up into a more complete package. Amazing we tackled most of those, huh???
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That indeed IS amazing! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

<!--quoteo(post=172606:date=Nov 19 2006, 11:17 PM:name=Black Bart)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Black Bart @ Nov 19 2006, 11:17 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
And dont forget to remind Keith/Skull to change the download info on piratesahoy home page(it still says link to pre-build13/beta etc).
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I sent an e-mail to William asking to put Build 13 up on the main PA! site. I'm sure he'll get to doing that some time soon. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

<!--quoteo(post=172612:date=Nov 19 2006, 11:49 PM:name=IncredibleHat)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IncredibleHat @ Nov 19 2006, 11:49 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
I downloaded it and installd it on a fresh PotC. Apart from the unwelcomed and unasked for launch of the game after installation, it worked great and seemless and appears to work! Personally I never launch a program right after the installer is finished installing it, as there are usually setting files to be messed with first!!!
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
In the final screen of the installer there is a checkbox "Run Pirates of the Caribbean: Build 13 when installation is complete" or something like that. If you uncheck that checkbox, the game won't start immediately. That functionality was added in there by the program I used to make the installer file and I couldn't really take it out. But since there's a checkbox, that shouldn't be required. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<!--quoteo(post=172610:date=Nov 19 2006, 11:40 PM:name=ledhed)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ledhed @ Nov 19 2006, 11:40 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
So I just install this one on top of all the other ones right ?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You can install it on top of any PotC version. It doesn't matter if you had any previous modpack versions installed, because it'll overwrite everything. But it'll work on top of the unmodded game as well.

<!--quoteo(post=172617:date=Nov 20 2006, 12:40 AM:name=Gedscho)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Gedscho @ Nov 20 2006, 12:40 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
is it just me? but the full 13 installer points to a rather strange directory ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Build 13") and when i select my game folder, this said directory is still in the installation path, and i have to clear it out manually.
thats two problems in one... i believe windows cant use ":" in directory names, and you have to select your gamefolder for install, and not a subfolder, right?
enough.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I noticed that as well. Beats me why it does that. I'll see if I can find out why that happens, but I thought I HAD set the install path correctly. :wacko

<!--quoteo(post=172617:date=Nov 20 2006, 12:40 AM:name=Gedscho)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Gedscho @ Nov 20 2006, 12:40 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
oh, and the "runme.bat" asked me, if it should overwrite some files, and after it did, it gave some error messages. one of them being "directory is not empty". im not sure what to make of this, but ill see soon enough.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Probably nothing to worry about. The file probably tries to remove some files that are already gone or something. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

<!--quoteo(post=172620:date=Nov 20 2006, 01:00 AM:name=ledhed)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ledhed @ Nov 20 2006, 01:00 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
It wont let me use the save of the game I have just playrd for the last 9 hours or so.... It says its not compatible....
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
A new game is required; several things were changed that need a new game.

<!--quoteo(post=172627:date=Nov 20 2006, 02:29 AM:name=Gedscho)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Gedscho @ Nov 20 2006, 02:29 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
i dont have any loading screens after i installed build 13 full. NONE. not even when loading a savegame.
and i believe i dont have anymore greetings sounds.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That should work, but perhaps I made a mistake with with RunMe.bat. I'll check that. Unfortunately I don't have a German version to test it on myself, so I might be asking you some questions to solve that problem. In the meantime: Move all files from RESOURCE\TEXTURES\Loading into the ENGLISH subfolder and RESOURCE\SOUNDS\VOICE into the ENGLISH subfolder manually. That should re-enable the loading screens and sounds.

<!--quoteo(post=172634:date=Nov 20 2006, 03:53 AM:name=IncredibleHat)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IncredibleHat @ Nov 20 2006, 03:53 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
I dont get why all of this is going on, because some of it looks like its going to overwrite the NEW stuff from the build with the copies of the old stuff of the original game. I figured this should all have run BEFORE the install of the build... but what do I know.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->If everything works as I think it should, the xcopy /N RESOURCE\Textures\Loading\GERMAN\*.* RESOURCE\Textures\Loading\ENGLISH\*.* should PREVENT that from happening. That's what the \N is for (DON'T overwrite the files if they already exist). But I suppose RunMe.bat will need some looking at from non-English versions of the game.

Anyway: I never expected everything to work 100% correct at once, so I'm afraid I'll need to try and fix some of the final issues, then upload again. But I'm going to try to do that at school next time, because four hours is not funny. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

.......
but no other loading screens or greeting sounds. i then ran "english.bat", which i think i was NOT supposed to run.
BUT it gave me back my loading screens and greeting sounds.

.........
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

well that step WASN'T a requirement of the previous build/betas either - BUT i found it helped my install also. As i was told at the time "it probably wont hurt anything anyway" - so its become part of my install process now <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

oh and i have the english(euro) version.

@Pieter,

you're a true trooper matey <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

and ref emailing Keith(to change the PA link for the build13) - skull said something about him not being around much these days, so maybe you should mail skull also?

It certainly can't hurt to do that. I tried to make RunMe.bat take care of everything properly, but apparently it's not actually doing everything entirely properly on non-English versions of the game. I tested the entire install yesterday on top of my English European version and everything did work fine, including the workings of RunMe.bat. But I couldn't test it for other game versions. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

I sent an e-mail to William, because for all I know only Keith and William are webmasters of the main PA! site.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Pirates,
First, thank you Pieter and Modders for an excellent job!
I downloaded and installed Build 13 Full over everything
I installed previous and it works fine so far. I did all my personal
settings in Bs.h and found ofcourse the splitup, which are in the internalsettings.h
file. I would have liked it stay together and there seems to be a workaround
which I found out later.The only thing I'm missing,or can't find is to change settings
for characters with 0 skill settings like Riz Bloom and Artios Voysey. With 0 skill for sailing
they can't be fully used as officers to be put on captured ships as you know. However
I keep on looking and hopefully detect them! Wish you all well and happy modding!
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />
Edit
; Found settings in InternalSettings.h and now I'm realy happy!!!!!

How do you change all the options..like I had them in build 13.9...the buid setting are still there but they do not work .

I'd like to have my settings back to the way I was playing the 13.9 build.

I deleted all the old saves and started a new game...nothing is working the way I had it .

And I checked the build settings .h file..and tweaked it a bit more.

STILL nothing the game doesn't recognise it .

I want to enable the Brothel the cheats ..the no weapons damage and some other things I had In my last game BTW I have 28 GBS of free space and the initializing program wont work .

I attempted to intall the mod again to fix the problem.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> You can change all your settings in BuildSettings.h
and InternalSettings.h! Little confusing as reported in my
previous Reply! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

feel free to ask as much questions as you want, im grateful for you wanting to solve that.

ok, i just moved the loading tga.tx to the english subfolder, and it worked, except for the "loading a savegame"-screen. still dont have that.
(dont wanna whine, just thought that info will help)
i didnt try for the voice files yet.

are there any other things affected? like... new voice files or anything?

oh and somethign that might help you (as i dont have the slightest idea whats going on)...
after installing full 13 i have an "english" and an "english_" subfolder.
both seem to contain the same stuff.. and this stuff is the loading screens.
but they have strange names... like "ISA1A7~1.tga.tx"

edit:
<!--QuoteBegin-morgan terror+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(morgan terror)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->i still can't find that BuildSettings.h file.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
when in doubt, use windows search function <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
as it seems the buildsettings has moved over to the game folder,
its not found in the program subfolder any longer.

The internal settings do not have all the options of the build settings...they are for when you want to further change things you changed or enabled in the build settings...at least thats what it looks like to me..I just got out of the file....

You cant enable or disable the same options in the build settings.

This is NOT working in the new mod for me.

I tryied to install the mod again but I got an error ( oxc0000005) when it tried to localise the files .

I just want my game back... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Thats all I was having fun...this is not much fun... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Much hard work by so many people. Salud! How Fabulous! Congratualtions on Completion.

Pieter, in addtion to all your hard work, thank you for your leadership. When you finally wind up your ship, the are going to be lucky to have you.

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Well, there was no final screen for me. As soon as it got done extracting everything, the bat file ran, did its thing, then everything quit and the game launched. Usually I DO see that checkbox at the end of game installers, but this time I didn't. You know? There is usually a group of common checkboxes all installers have: Place shotrcut on desktop, in start menu, view readme, and launch game after install. I didnt see any of those ?

Ledhed:

Buildsettings.h file is right in the base Pirates of the Caribbean directory. Right there with ENGINE.exe and Engine.ini the readme, etc etc.

InternalSettings.h are 'internal' and thus found in /PROGRAM/.

My suggestion, uninstall your game. Completely. Then reinstall fresh, and install Build 13 on top.

hmmm, i was wondering, how a guy, that can find bugs that are hiding like elvis (he aint dead, you know) could possibly overlook that checkbox...

to pieter:
i think that runme.bat is definetly borked. it overwrites stuff it shouldnt, im pretty sure.
i did a reinstall today, and stopped the runme.bat before it could move any files. then i manually moved the textures in the loading folder to an english folder i created.
whoops there were my loading screens again, including the nice save-game loadingscreen.(pirate, grey coat, knife between teeth).

yesterday, after the runme.bat did its work, this particular screen for instance was <b>nowhere</b> to be found. (i can be wrong on that, it was pretty late, but still, im 95% sure, it was gone. overwritten. deleted. whatever.)

<b>just for the record, is there anything ill miss after i do the following:</b>
stop runme.bat before it copies anything.
create an english folder in resource\textures\loading\
move the files in resource\textures\loading to the english folder
move the files in resource\textures\loading\german to the english folder
(and say "no" to overwrite, so i keep the newly created screens. like the mentioned pirate /w grey coat)

create an english folder in resource\sounds\voice\
move the files in resource\sounds\voice to the english folder
move the files in resource\sounds\voice\german to the english folder

edit: i just realized that all my whining about them files could go in a new thread, like "full 13, runme issues"
i feel like im clogging up this thread...

with the builds, you should always overwrite when it asks you to. maybe that's the problem.

downloading the build now. should be done at quarter past ten.

no it isnt. read ever post about the issue.

or to take the work from you:
at first try, i let it overwrite all it wanted.

since it didnt work, i cut its throat and did all the stuff myself.

doing all the stuff yourself is mostly a very certain road to failure. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

ok, your the expert. but can he? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

at 20 MB, it said it was saving the files. after two hours, it was still saving those same files. is it supposed to take that long with so little?

nevermind, solved it.

About RunMe.bat: We need to start a new thread on that. Sounds like it's not working properly for many people. I tested it myself and it does work as it should for my own version of the game, but I can't test the other language versions. Anyway: I'll start a new thread on it, please don't discuss it further here.
