Bug: "Known as: mister"

I just found an amusing bug. On the relations screen my "Known as" came up as mister, when I was previously Scourge of the Archipelago. It seems Governor Silehard's neices and daughers were pretty impressed with my character, and he ended up with TWO mistresses.

The problem was, my score jumped up to over 980, which gave a "rank" of 13. There are only 12 ranks, so it returned my civil title instead, "mister", when it should have been "Scourge of the Seven Seas".

Has no one ever noticed this before?? I can't be the first person to try to maximize my fame.

Anyway, it was a simple fix, and I'll keep playing this character to see if anything else shows up weird. The rank with the English governor was fine, Viscount I think. Just that when my "known as" (which is your pirate rank) went over 12, I got a default civil title which should have been only when you have no rank at all.

When he married the next daughter, score jumped up over 1800. Still rank 13 though. Note that spending time with a wife raises your reputation, while spending time with a mistress lowers it. Especially when you also have a wife. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

LOL! Now THERE's a funny one! You don't want to become too famous or you'll not be famous anymore at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Hook, nobody has so much success with the ladies like you <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Seems like colonial girls prefer the old-school gentleman.

Euphemistically speaking, they might just be prospecting for precious metals.

lol! even the recruitable lasses stay away from me - where are ye mi beuties, dont be mindin ol Barts glass eye now mi darlins.......i need to be workin on mi courtin charms <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" /> (oh noes that be the wrong way!)

There is a way to get yourself female officers: Buy female outfits at a tailor's shop and assign such an outfit to a male officer. Then click the male officer's name in the F2 menu, press Backspace and type a female name. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

This might be weird though. About just as weird as weird as playing the main quest with a lady as main character. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

so ye be suggestin that good ol balck bart be dressing his officers up as der women! have you not seen their ugly mugs to know they be ugly men already - davyjones himself would spit them out if they be tryin to pass as the fairer sex for sure <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

ol fat bubba juma dressed in a frock.....shiver mi timbers <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I have one lass in my crew of 8 - i figure she will have to be managing for the time being!

I TOLD you it was weird. But it would work. And if you forget they were ever men, you'll never notice. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

As far as the game is concerned, I like to be able to do this to get myself a bunch of female officers easily. I don't quite like this practise in real life though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" />

Aye, they look the part and have the correct voice, so with the name change, you'll soon forget just which officer was hired and where.

Aye, and what Pirate be want'n to be the captain of the Corvette "Gender Bender" anyways?
Kinda reminds me of this sketch I saw on "Mind of Mencia"

lol - well Pieter, just watch yerself on those navy type ships - and try to avoid crossing the equator until you've become 18 stone of muscle and attitude! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I think the Tailor shops are excellent by the way, as is the new front end menu for choseing your char at game start. I'm sure people have played around with trying to swap 'heads' on the models in PotC haven't they? I'm guessing it doesnt have an easy answer(getting a new look that is) other than making many copies of the complete human model and changing colours on the clothing? Or having the tailor shop function like it does. Its not like Morrowind(for example) where you have a player body and seperate player clothes, so i can see that creates the need for interesting workarounds <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

1) I'm not going to sail on navy ships
2) I am 20 as of yesterday
3) I'm confused about what you're trying to say <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

It isn't possible to make your own character ingame. The game engine won't allow it. You can make your character outside the game though using texturing programs. And Inez Dias' tool can do headswaps. Sometimes they don't look good, but sometimes they do.

no worries - i was just thinking of all the talk of 'dressing my crew' up like ladies in the tailors shops as it were, that and i know you were talking about training to be an officer on a ship, so i thought navy, wrongly <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And the bit about crossing the equator is that there is a tradition in sailing that the junior/newest rank or first time a person crosses the equator in a ship/boat, they get dressed up like a women and thrown overboard. So my warning was if you were going to do that, well to be "tough"(18 stone is a measurement of weight in england for a person - quite a large strong person!) so you could put up a fight before the humiliation of being thrown in the sea.

hey you may have learned a bit of sailor lore here, and who knows if you ever do cross the equator in a ship atleast you will be forewarned on what to expect <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
