Is Bridgetown supposed to be hostile to all nations during the daytime? I can't seem to dock there except at night despite being neutral with the British, regardless of what flag I fly.

I'm using Build 14 alpha 9.5

I've just completed sinking the Oiesou part of the main quest and am doing the invasion of Speightstown.
 
Hostile to ALL nations? Uhm... not intentional, that's for sure. And I never heard of time-dependent relations for towns either. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
Bridgetown is French, though, at that point, isn't it? What flag are you flying? And are you personally hostile with France?

Bridgetown is never French... Spieghtstown is the one the French take.

I've flown british, personal and portugese flags, regardless the fort attacks me on sight unless I come at night. My reputation with Britain is -29 (Neutral) which is why I find this odd. Once I am in port, day or night, no guards are hostile and I can even go to the fort, but if at sea, the fort attacks.


**edit: Another issue I get is when capturing ships, my leadership is still low so it shows a dialog saying so, suggesting that I can cancel assigning an officer as captain, but there are no buttons to press. Actually quite annoying cause as we speak I captured a Pinnace 'o War and I shall have to sink it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

When do you raise your flag?
 
Are you using the brown interface by any chance? There should be buttons! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
And the fort issue has me completely confused, I'm afraid. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
I am indeed using the brown interface, I assume there are issues? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> As for when I raise flag, for british, it was raised before I arrived at jamaica, long before I headed to bridgetown. The others were raised before I set sail from Port Royale (which has no hostility at all, so far as I can see, only Bridgetown does this).

The brown interface is indeed not 100% up-to-date and will need to be fixed at some point in the future.
Recommended to use the blue one instead for now. That should at least solve you lack-of-buttons problem.

**edit: actually, scratch that, the switch did not take it seems, get to redo the battle again I guess :p

Have exactly the same problem but with Speightstown. The fort always lights up its guns on me even if i'm neutral with France or Britain (after when it is back to beeing a British colony). I've tried British, French, Portugese and personal flags but no luck...
 
Now this is happening at Saint Pierre as well, I even tried paying the diplomat to make france neutral, the fort attacks me on sight regardless. The Black Pearl also attacks me here unless I'm using the pirate flag (I can see this as being somewhat normal though).
 
I wonder... did this happen in Alpha 9.5 as well before installing Alpha 9.5 Patch 1? We did update the Sea AI system.
We've made another update for it that will be included in the next patch that should handle forts in a better way.
 
Can't say, I've never played a Build prior to alpha 9.5 patch 1 (or even PotC) until 2 or 3 days ago. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

**edit: I should mention I was able to land at Saint Pierre before while running a French flag for the Oiesou mission with out any problems, day or night. It is now hostile regardless of flag day or night. (I even tried pirate flag)
 
Well, let's see what happens with the next update then, once that's released. Will be a couple of weeks from now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
I just verified to make sure, but I also do not get a "We are recognized, captain!" message before the fort attacks, so as far as I can tell, the fort should not be seeing me as hostile based on the code for flag checking in sea.c
 
From what I recall, the fort recognizing code doesn't actually work properly in Alpha 9.5 Patch 1; should be better in the next update.
 
Actually, why don't you try the updated Sea AI code already? See attached. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

This fixed the issue, fort no longer attacks when I use a french-friendly flag <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Black Pearl still attacks, but that is no big deal (I would expect a pirate ship to attack).

**edit: I'll test bridgetown too in a few minutes
