Can enemy AI ships attempt to board you? Any idea what file the code for this would be in?

Yes they can.
I don't think they are very good at starting the boarding but I know I have sailed in to board them and suddenly it has started automatically.
I assumed that this is them boarding me before I had a chance to board them

It seems to me i've read in a thread something about an interesting feature in COAS, sending a friendly ship to board an ennemy, and something about fires and explosions transmitting to the ships that are near... but i'm not sure about all of that...
