Boarding party

Privateer

Storm Modeller
Hello,

I have made some improvements to the BoardingParty mod by Couchcaptain Charles. Those include:

- new BOARDINGMODEL groups: "soldier" and "boarder"
"soldier" - members of Nathaniel boarding party are soldiers of country whose flag he's currently using. If he uses his own flag, models for boarders will be taken from special parameters settable in BuildSettings.h.
"boarder" - members of Nathaniel boarding party are always uses models for case of his own flag in "soldier" case, but independently from his colors.

There's also a parameter which decides if boarder's models should be selected randomly, sequentially or shall it be only one peculiar model for all characters. I have also updated for this rest of the old groups. Boardingparty memebers now can look different instead of beeing clones of the same person.

The file is on Pirates Ahoy! ftp with name "CCC_BoardingPartyEnhanced.zip". To work correctly postbuild from 5.02.06 with all updates must be installed. This worked good on my system, but please remember to make backup copies of PROGRAM\BuildSettings.h and PROGRAM\Loc_ai\LAi_boarding.c before extracting this file. And, of course, you must start a new game.

Here's link to the file:

Nice! I am away for a couple of days, but please remind me to add it in when I get back in case I forget.

I'm guessing that what you really mean by that is:

"Wow, that gives me the idea to add a new BOARDINGMODEL group: Tanga Dolls."

The enemy crew then just drops jaws, swords, and anything else.
Then you go about slashing them into little pieces" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

I have made a slight modification to your and CCC's mod, which I hope is working. Instead of <i>switch(BOARDERMODEL)</i>, I added <i>switch(chr.boardingmodel)</i> and added <i>ch.boadingmodel = BOARDERMODEL</i>; to Nathaniel's entry in Characters\characters_init.c. The reason I have done this, is so that you can change the boardingmodel during the game by, for example, adding some dialog options to the Enc_Officer_dialog.c file. I reckon that would be nice, because you might not always want the same boardingmodels during your game. I haven't tested this though, so I don't know if it's working. If you think this is a nice idea, feel free to make the required dialog change. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Excellent idea, psychological warfare of the most irregular kind <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> Do we already have a modeltype "Lower_Tangas" ?

I have a question about boarder models, and this thread seems perfect to necro/hijack.

I'm admiral with the british, so I got the lobsters for boarding models. As a privateer, who docks more at pirate ports than of the british,
I'd like to use the original or corsair boarder models. I've tried talking to Isenbrandt, this way losing my rank, but I still had the redcoats after that.

Is there a way (console command) that changes the models without the need to start a new game?

Ya know, that's a good question. :nerbz

In the game I'm playing the boarders started out as Nathaniel Hawk. That was interesting but kinda cool. Then later they changed to redcoats. Hmmm. Now I've got the Brits mad at me so that in a boarding fight the deck is swimming in a sea of red. Who do I whack? :shrug

I just looked and in PROGRAMS > internalsettings.h > boarding and capturing my boardermodel was "standard". I just changed it to "corsair" and will see if that does anything. Hitting F11 might make a difference.

The boardermodel code needs rewriting. With Patch 7 WIP you can change it in InternalSettings.h and I think that doesn't require a new game.
In Patch 6, changing the Advanced Option does require a new game.

Idea..And not even offtopic :)

How about boardermodels change accordingly to your loyalty with a certain nation or group? 100% pro-British = lobsters, in bad standing with most nations = corsairs etc?

So no console command then? Damn, gotta start a new game.

Q: What if I gain rank with another country? Will the boarder models change to that country's? If yes, the same function could be added to Isenbrandt, when talking about becoming a pirate.

That's what I would like to code in there, but at the moment it doesn't do that.

We should have the boardermodels be a player attribute that can be changed through quest code or dialog or so.
