Best Ship in game?

Allrounder I am after, what do you suggest, sloop is too small and a War Galleon to big and slow, wouldn't mind getting hold of a Frigate but not many showing up, mainly a lot of Spanish Galleons (excuse spelling) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

Cheers

Sloop of war (or something like that). 16 cannons, 150 crew, fast ... all a young pirate can wish for.

Aw Shucks!

I caught me a sloop of war but sold it <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> dumb move eh?

Thanks

<!--QuoteBegin-ddmagnan+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ddmagnan)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Why sloop of war and not a royal sloop? Royal sloop is an improved version of it.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Much harder to find though...

Why not a royal sloop? Well .. i guess it's a sentimental thingie. I grew fond of my olde Sloop of War... It's small, but it's mine, u know. My first kiss happened on that boat. (and the captain cabin is filled with barrels of grog. i won't sell my nutshell 'till i manage to drink all that grog ...) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Best Ship

Frigate or Royal Sloop of War--with all upgrades.

Frigate--Usually found near wealthy ports or defeat Blackbeard and get a full upgraded one.

Royal Sloop of War--If your bounty is high enough and you sink one ship (mostly around Spanish ports) they automatically send out a `pirate-hunter` in a royal sloop or sloop of war to come after you.

I can never make my mind up anymore between a Royal Sloop and any kind of good Frigate <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Although with the Pirate hunters always using a Royal Sloop I often go for the Frigate flag ship accompanied by the Royal Sloop for emergencies <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

The best ship ive ever used is the heavy frigate. Ive only seen one and that was right before I kicked the crap outa the #1 pirate. By chance I ran across him right after killing #2 Blackbeard, go figure. Anyway, im hoping for the best in the Frigate class, the ship of the line. The Flag Galley isnt bad either, but its too slow for my taste, and can only handle the 40 that my faster war frigate. Those are my 2 cents.

we have a winner

Royal Sloop of War, thats what I will try to capture again.

No have not even encountered a ship of the line, sounds impressive though

Cheers

I always use the Royal Sloop, fully upgraded it holds 187 pirates, 20 cannons and can turn on a dime. It can hold 60 tons, so I stock it with 40 tons of food and 20 cannons. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Captured a `Ship-of`-`the-Line`.

Check out the screenshots I posted over <a href="http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=126159" target="_blank">here.</a>

If you dont want to make the leap to a Frigate, ive found a Brig of War to be a wonderful ship once youve gotten its copper plating and cotton sails added. She's got 32 cannons, yes, as many as a Frigate, but she's about half the size and quite manueverable. She isnt as fast as a frigate or sloop mind you, but she can take a considerable bit more damage than a sloop, and is almost as hard to hit. She also has a max crew of 200, putting it into the raiding category for all your shore party needs, and to top it all off she carries as much carge as the Frigate, and20 to 30 more tons than the largest sloops.

One thing i like about the BoW is how quickly you can tack over across the wind. Where most larger ships stall out headlong for a minute or two, the BoW can actually skid hard over if you do it right, avoiding the stall entirely. Give it a try!

For me its the `Ship-of`-`the-Line`. You can blast all to dust with its 48 cannons. It manouvers like a holy yak cow but i can live with that. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> For fast battles I prefer a sloop of war .

Brig of War

Sounds Impressive dude, a fine little ship, jezz I am dumb, I captured that Frigate of Henry Morgan (2nd ranked Pirate) I think it was HM anyways I sold it and kept my War Galleon. Mind you having said that the ship of the line sounds mean, imagine a 48 gun broadside into a tiny sloop, all the sailing in the world wont save your arse. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />
