BERMUDA SLOOPS

Adding items has remained the same, hasn't it? Add an entry to PROGRAM\ITEMS\initItems.c, then add a picture to a file like RESOURCE\Textures\INTERFACES\items##.tga.tx and use that in initItems.c. Then, lastly, add the required name and description to RESOURCE\INI\TEXTS\ENGLISH\ItemsDescribe.txt. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Problem is mate, there aren't many who know how to put a new ship in game,Inzane and Skelly Bob are the only ones who have put a new model in game and Skelly Bob hasn't been heard from fer quite some time.
I can understand yer frustration,but don't lose heart matey,a sloop like yers would make a fine pirates flagship <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Captain_Augast dont worry your sloop will make it ingame.before you do any of the work to get it ingame you have to scale the ship right..you must export a ship from the game and load it into Maya. And scale your sloop to the size of the imported game ship.if you don,t your ship will be huge and as big as the world map.this is where you start to get it in game.when you get that done and post screenies of it scaled.I will guide you to the next step.

Potc model of frigate is 35.7 meters length my bermuda sloop stingray is 29.9 meters length.

Thanks again for helpping <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

looks like the board software is acting up. The next step it to make separate files for all the masts and reys name each file mast1 and mast2 . So all we have is the hull to start work on..again post screenies when you have that done.<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I save masts and reys to seperate files.
i name them

bermsloop163_rey_a2
bermsloop163_rey_b2
bermsloop163_rey_c2

She's a pretty boat. But isn't she a bit horizontally squashed? Or is that how she's supposed to look? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Your doing great!!!The next step it to create a path model.
what the path model is simply a 1 sided mesh of the deck(and only the deck) with its polys inverted so you don,t see it.and what it does is it allows you to move the camera around on deck.other wise with out it when ever you switch to camera views it will crash the game..also make sure it has a texture on it or it wont convert to gm format.
Same as before post some screenies of the path model when done.and we will move onto adding the first set of locators and do a test convert and check it ingame <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Is this ship ready for action? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Inzane thanks <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
i make path and save it as bermsloop163_path.
I then slide over so you can see it in picture.

What step next please? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Could be. I don't know. Doesn't really matter, as long as she looks good in the game, which I know she will. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Your doing super!!This next part is where we also figure out some of mayas funtions. And it may take a few trys to get it to work right.

Step 1.Got to the create tab and click create a locator it will be named locator1. Place this locator where you want her waterline without cargo and other excess weight.when the ship is load with cargo it will settle deeper into the water.Cool and realistic.

Step 2 First go to your General tab. next click the hypergraph subtab.this will open a new screen where you will see your new locator and your mesh. Now we have to make 2 more locators but this time name one PATH ,move this locator to line up with the deckand name the other Camera ,place this one someplace on the deck that would be eye lever .they also should show up in your hypergraph. Take note in the General tab there are 4 subtab icons of blue squares and balls.if you look at them they are Group, Ungroup, Parent and Unparent.make not of them .we will be using them in step 3.

Step 3a.you should at this point have your hypergraph open. we should see all the new locators you created.in hypergraph click the Path locator so its yellow, next click the group icon ,now it should have created a white box that says group1, Right click it and rename it to Geometry.
Now you have to click the names in this order.and only in this order.or it will screw everything up. You will have to hold down your shift key to turn all these yellow,Camera,Geometry and your 3d model ,then locator1.all these should be yellow.than go to the subtab Parent and click it.now it should be all connected in a tree,it should show up connected in the reverse order that you clicked them in.locator1,3d model,Geometry-->path,Camera.

step3b. Open your path model. make locator1. line it up as close to the model as you can dead center, open hypergraph click holding shift again in this order 3d model ,locator1.both should be yellow than hit subtab parent.it should have locator1 on top and 3d model on the bottom now save file.

Step4 test Convert.open the plugin and save as a gm.this may take a few minutes.also convert you path model to gm also. if your lucky only a few seconds.if it converts thats a good sign.next convert all the textures to tx if you already have not do so now.put them it the right texture folder.than make a new folder.name it sloopX.now we are gonna do a quick test.open your gm viewer. If you dont have it get it!.Now open your sloop model in it.if it loads and looks good with textures.check to see if the locators are there.than we are in good shape. We should be able to do a test ingame.there are many ways to get the model in game.do what is easyer for you,I uselly replace a ship already ingame, that I already have at sea.for quick loads.but you may want to make it stand alone.,thats you choice..When you got that done, start game and you should know right away if something is wrong.it will crash. If it don't than thats good.now you should see your ship ingame if its off scale go back to maya and fix it by high light the whole mesh and locators and resize bigger or smaller.just make sure your locators stayed where you want them on the model.and reconvert.

if all goes well post plenty of screenies of her ingame.
