Actually, Ive just seen the specs and they aint that bad; 2ghz is the recommended speed while a 256 meg nvid is also 'required'. Not as bad as I was expecting.

A nice link to a Naval perspective interview. I was very happy to see the developer has a southern england accent; i always though total war was an american thing.

As far as I know, the TW series has always been developed in Europe <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />

ETW is the first time North America is being featured prominently (MTW2 and its expansion had NA and part of South America but it was relatively a minor theater compared to Europe) which has caused a bit of a stir on TW forums as some feel the developers are trying to find a slot in the NA market by including the 13 colonies/America, this has also stirred some nationalistic sentiments but it's pretty minor stuff, most people are just excited to finally have the series tackle the Napoleonic era.

yeah, haven't you seen all the player ships are brit ships and the ships always sinking are the U.S.?

Darn English!!

No, really, I lurv english people and asians.

It sure looks good <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />
The flags also match the way the ships are sailing with the wind - but the waves are hardly moving the ships at all..Weird.

Maybe the ingame grabbling can be used as a video sequence in PotC? I like the way, those planks are falling on the enemy ship!

To be fair, in the war for yankee independance the uss contitution sunk an unbelievable amount of our frigates and sloops; indeed, its thought she sunk almost as many as the great RN ship, H.M.S Shannon, who's accomplioshed gunnery and crew sunk many, many 'union' ships ;so I guess it evens it off.

Ive never got one thing; yanks have independance day; why don't we have Trafalgar day? Afterall, that was the day britain was free to become the greatest power in the world for at least a century, thus freeing the people from the 22 (or something) year war against the french; finally, there was no risk of invasion. BUt i guess we have saints days and get to east pancakes and stuff so...<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Does the Us have shrove tuesday? Im not sure. DO YOU!?

You mean War of 1812 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
Although some call it the second war of independence, but I don't think England had any intentions of taking back their former colonies, the war was just a fly buzzing around their heads compared to the giant bear that was the Napoleonic wars.

As for Shrove Tuesday, no idea.

Mmmm....pancakes.

PLEASE dont start that again! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

(Though I do know where your coming from!;) )

Yes; though dont' forget that by 1812 many other european countries were now involved in the war against France (Btw, was Ottoman Empire a British Ally, d'you know?) Anyway, while britain did take the brunt of the French army, prussia and Austria wwere potential catalysts for a cease fire also. Wasn't it just after then that Britain gained Alexandria?

Trafalgar was greatly exaggerated due to propaganda. there's of course no mistake over what they did and prevented, but the battle itself wasn't all that big. it's not even listed on the biggest 10 seabattles of all time.

I know exactly what you mean; its even said Nelson wore ultra-shiny buckles on his coat to attract french snipers, thus dying and making him a british legend. Incidentally, Do you know where the battle of the nile ranks?

one battle that is hardly heard of is the great battle of the Opium wars betwixt the british steamers and the Junks. I think there were 15 british ships against about 70 junks and they absolutly wiped them out.

The Battle of Navarro is perhaps more significant, or what about the Battle of Copenhagen? It involved more ships than Trafalgar..

I do love England, though. Hate Brown.
Sorry guys, but London won't have enough mone to come up with Beijing. Not showing U.S. bias, i'm for Tokyo 2016 and I LIVE in Illinois. So much money downstate would pay, and so much Chicago would reap. I hate Chicago and Blo-Go.

You guys also have one of the oldest ships in the world and the most powerful of the 17th and 18th century that I would like to see, HMS Victory.

i've seen it. seen the HMS Warrior too, as well as the Amsterdam, the Batavia, and the wreck of the Mary Rose. i think i've seen the Cutty Sark too, but i'm not sure. don't think i'll ever see the USS Constitution though.

Very impressive, Morgan. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Yeah; portsmouth is quite a nice day out. Im going to uni in Bournemouth next year so probably be seeing a lot more of the beuties!

I actually like brown; hes better than Blair or thatcher, at least, and labours just clearing up the mess the f**king conservatives left behind; not to mention that complet and utter c*** Cameron.

Anyway, politics outta the way, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />, I think HMS Warrior is the best cos, though she never saw any action, if it wasnt for her revolutionary design, ther ewould be no such thing as a modern navy; we'd still be figting wooden walls. (not that theres anything wrong with that! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> )

Skye

the HMS Warrior is pretty rotten though. there's quite a few holes in the bottom of the deck.

Thats the beutey of it to me; its the most original old ship around. I spoke to the engine room guy once and he said the only part which was complelty reinstalled was the engine and officers cabins.

It won't run a video clip? Holy hell. If it's in HD, well, I could see that happening, but otherwise...
