Adding Slavery mod to build 12

paddymcphee

Powder Monkey
hi again peeps

is there a way i can implement the slavery mod to my game without the problems i have encountered

im running build12 with new islands and update................

Do you already have a slavery mod? I know it used to exist, but it was never added to the Build. Nathan Kell, who is the official compiler and supervisor wants to keep out any politically incorrect mods. I personally wouldn't like such things in my game either. But if you already have the mod, I suppose I could try to figure out if it can be added. I don't know when I'd fine the time though... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I think the thinking was we'd add it officially if we could counterbalance it with something like a way to release the slaves on a friendly shore and gain a rep-up.

Pfft I cant stand politicly correctness :p. If your not selling a game to the masses then it really doesn,t matter. Except if its racism which is just plane uncalled for in all times.

why not make an island a colony of which to dispose of slaves

like we(england) did to australia except they were convicts

and base an island around that as i see some of the islands arent
complete yet

(just a thought)

Slavery is part of the SLiB Mod and is an integral part of the Archipelago's economy, however probably the best feature regarding slaves is that you can recruit them as part of your crew. In my current SLiB game I avoided trading in slaves and was always setting slaves free at port if they were taken aboard a prize ship (must be something to do with my Australian convict ancestry <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> ). However I soon discovered that you could recruit them into your crew to make up for battle casualties which can often be quite considerable. Now when ever I take a slave trader as prize I can make up my own losses and fully crew the prize, and when I return to port all the rest are released free (I don't trade trade them).

Slavery is indeed distasteful to me in the highest degree...disgusting, however, as others have mentioned, it was an important element of those times. My views on the morality of this issue dictate my actions (if you follow me).

On the other hand I totally understand the reticence in including this in the Build.

Cheers, mates <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I could add a slavery mod if there was one. But until someone sends me one, I can't add anything. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I don´t like slavery too. It is too negative for my taste. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Hey, no worries Paddy. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> None taken. I was just being a little bit of a smartarse. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
