A slight rework of the lifeboat handler

I'm not fully versed yet with the whole event system, and locations handler... so I am bringing this question up for those who are.

Is it possible to make it so that when you 'sink and resurrect to a lifeboat'... to have that lifeboat start with SAILS DOWN and NO forward speed? I lost count how many times I sank, and was put into a life boat going full speed into the side of a rock face, or into a shore, and thus crashing and sinking again.

I thought of two possibilities for a new begin lifeboat event:

1) You are put into a lifeboat right next to your sinking ship, in the exact game area you sank in... thus, being ultra-realistic (but not much fun since you are thrown into the same dangerous situation).

2) You always end up in a lifeboat that is moored in a non-hostile shore (no forts nearby, and no enemy ships spawned nearby either). So if you sank out at sea, you show up at a random island shore. If you sank around an island, you show up on one of its shores with no hostiles around.

#1 would be for the "live life dangerously" types, keeping realism, and throwing you into a lifeboat at a very perilous moment. Maybe make any enemy ships ignore you at this point so you at least have a fighting chance to survive! And if you do anything provoking, then they act upon you again (like try to take a ship).

#2 would be more of a safe restarting point from a most tragic event. All calm, sitting in safe waters, near an island you could land too and possibly find help on or buy resources. This would save you the time and hassle of trying to escape a battle, or stormy area in your lifeboat to get to a shore.

Anyhow... what do you all think? Am I crazy?

Would be nice to change, yes. I don't know how though.

It IS possible to set the sailstate to 0.0 I think, so the lifeboat starts with it's sails lowered. Can you point me to the code for the lifeboats?

Ok, I added the fix to the bug tracker. Issue # 85:
<a href="http://swankyplace.com/potcbugs/view.php?id=85" target="_blank">http://swankyplace.com/potcbugs/view.php?id=85</a>

Its a simple fix really... if you are near an island, I make it lower your sails and put you at a dead stop. If you are at sea when you sink, then you are put into a lifeboat going full ahead.

Works pretty good too... no more crashing into the rocks!

And thanks to pirate KK, he fixed it so that you cannot keep sinking over and over in a lifeboat <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Thank you. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />
