Im thinking about conning someone to do an article (or myself) about the impact of Rum on the caribbean, anyone know of good links about rum, i know the ones from bilgemunkeys site but thats about it.

My own copy is on my nightstand, and I'll be tackling it as soon as I'm done with my current book. I'd be happy to share what I learn, but at the current rate of things that could be a while.

Well, you make beer by fermenting stuff and drinking the results.

Simply put, to make rum, you first need to ferment the molasses (or the sugar cane juice) and then distill the resultant "beer" into 96 % pure alcohol. Then you need to put it into oak casks for a few years to age properly...

So, it is not as easy as making beer and actually required a bit more patience as well... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
