A couple of problems with Build 11...

...I hope someone can help me. I have downloaded and installed Build 11 right after installing the game (European version), delocalized and so on. But...

1- Game crashes, and pc reboots, when I try to access the character or passengers menu at sea (in captain's cabin) or at the port. This doesn't happen EVERY time, but rather often.
Could it be a graphic card problem? Well, it's not too serious if I keep changing my officers in town. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

`2-I` know someone's already asked, but I can't find that post anymore. How could I fix that annoying bug that's replacing your name with your rank in all dialogs? I'm tired of introducing myself as "Captain Lieutenant 2°" <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

3- During the installation of build 11 I couldn't download the new textures. I've tried this a couple of times, but it doesn't seem to work. I have the textures folder, but empty. Where can I find them?

About your first point, i think it's not a problem of your grafik. But i have no explanation.

Jumping directly to point 3, my suggestion is to play build 12, because their are all components of build11 and some more. Maybe that the file with new textures was deleted when switched to build 12.

#1- This problem was taken care of with a fix that is included with Build 12. Emrep's suggestion on getting Build 12 is a good one, as it has many fixes of problems you may encounter in B11. The current download of the B12 installation now has the Euro Bug fixed so now our European friends should have none of the previous problems that had us scrambling...

#2 - THAT problem is `fix-able` but would require MASSIVE editing of the dialog files... There's a way around it but it causes its own problems again; you may end up calling yourself "Nathaniel Nathaniel" instead of "Captain Lieutenant"... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Maybe I ought to try fixing that one, someday. It will take a LOT of work but will be worth it. #3 - The "extra textures" are entirely optional and not necessary for game play. They correspond to a fix I made for the game where you might go into a shipyard or the Town Hall and see a map hung on the wall - and it would be reversed... I fixed the worldmap to be `right-reading`, and also replaced the Caribbean map with the map of our little archipelago. The "missing" textures will not in any way affect your gameplay. I'll download build 12... However, I've just finished the main quest and would have restarted the game anyway.

So, it was a bug of the original game... Rather odd!

I think - I may be wrong, but perhaps this feature (promotion and ranks) was part of the original game that was left unfinished (because of Disney deadline) - and modders previous to me "unlocked" the feature and made it available to play. I've played the original Sea Dogs too (I miss that silly Pirate Island music!) and there was much more to do... So, thanks to all modders for the new quests and features. The game actually was pushed out the door way ahead of schedule. That's the problem. Disney moved in and said "Looks good. Add some references to the movie and ship it out as is.". Well, that's probably not EXACTLY what they said, but I assume it's close enough. For the longest time I didn't even touch POTC and played Sea Dogs instead. I'm glad I kept my copy though because Build 12 has made POTC one beautiful piece of art.

Talking about problems and all that, how come I cant, in build 12, talk to the merchants on docks? the talk icon appear but thats all...
?

Regarding names. If you want to disable that functionality, open (your_potc_folder)programcharacterscharacter_utilite.c
find, in function int UpdateTitle(ref char)

That will disable the `name-replacing`.

Verruckt added the military mod, it wasn't in the original game.
I did modified it some further to adopt Pirates!'s LoM, promotion, and marriage system.
