Doesn't the Avast antivirus have problems with PotC?

I don't if that's the case, just an observation.

No, it doesn't effect it.
I just did another clean install and the problem happens when i add the new update ! if i don't add it the game works fine!! so i thought the download was corrupted so i re-downloaded it again, and it still the same for me the moment i copy the last update and past it into the game folder. I'm confused now on what to do!:rumgone

I did use to in the past.
So:

Thanks for confirming that one is solved! :cheers

Are you using the Installer EXE from ModDB or from this forum?

That might make a difference...
I don't remember, does it make a difference if they are all(installer and the files)downloaded from different places?(here or ModDB?)
Must they all be downloaded from here? if so should i redownload them all from here???
Because the game works properly when i don't add the update but when i add the update i get the error you saw in the pictures above.

don't know where to ask this, sorry if this is not the right place to ask.
Why do patrols can have more than 4 ships? i met a british patrol with 9 ships destroting spanish merchants. can we have more than 4 ships following as if in patrol?? it's would be quite hard fighting a heavy gunned patrol of 8+ ships with just 4 ships at max.

Iron Man - checked!
Free Play story line - checked!
castaway startup - checked!
Wow; you're setting yourself up for quite the challenge there! :shock

Why do patrols can have more than 4 ships?
Because that is possible according to their settings in PROGRAM\Encounters\Encounters_init.c .
This means, for example, the fleet can have between 3 and 8 warships:
Code:
Enc_AddShips(rEnc, "War", 3, 8);

can we have more than 4 ships following as if in patrol??
The player fleet works on a completely different system.
Somebody once tried to make that work, but it was never fully finished because all the interfaces need adapting to match.

You could try though to increase this number in PROGRAM\globals.h and see what happens:
Code:
#define COMPANION_MAX            4

I also have a small question i hope is okay.
Asking and answering questions is what we're here for.
So of course it is okay! ;)

I can´t seem to change between the 2 "blaze/Blaze" outfits that Nathaniel Hawk start with. When i press "Wear outfit" nothing changes.
How exactly do you start the game? With what settings?
I don't remember the player starting the game with two outfits at all... :unsure

Another question, does helping the governor with sinking hostile ships near shores quest helps improve the defending ships quality or number? I did a quest and managed to sink a 56 guns British frigate and lost one ship in return. after i rested few days in town and wanted to set sails again, i saw a new 56 guns frigate added to the 4 12-22 guns patrolling ships. so is it a coincidence or is it random? so i can plan new strategy for helping my nation defend it's islands if it's worth it.
thanks in advanced I'm enjoying myself so far, albeit sometimes frustrating travels and battles with the wind changes but fun nevertheless.

No.

The only lasting influence for now is that you get money and you improve your relations with that nation.
More could be added, but somebody has to do it.

If you volunteer to try, we promise to help where you get stuck. :doff

You don't really need to defend the islands.
Other nations attacking islands and taking over cities doesn't exist yet as a feature.

I'm certain it could be added and it would make a lot of sense.
But at the moment, the code to do that simply isn't there...

Well I have a lot of ideas and I'm not afraid of trying to make them at least function, I'll just have to see tutorials here so i can know what file does what and what function does what... and start from there.

My idea is starting small like making certain quests have purpose and effect other than money and relations improvements like they can have ore consequences.
For example: helping towns defend themselves, even thought there is no feature of nations conquering cities, but players can? so no one know the future if let's say you were a famous British admiral but then had a fight with the royal house so you rebel with your fleets and try to conquer an island, your 4 1st or 2nd rate battle ships won't find it easy seeing a bunch of heavy gunned ships defending it.
another option is a quest given by a nation asking you to conquer a town with a fleet assisting you (like Nathan story line, french conquering Barbados i think) in the condition that you are a high level admiral.

these are a bunch of ideas i have a long of different ones, since creating new codes and features seems difficult due to engine limitations so we can use what we have?
Any way i know nothing I'm just thinking. testing will let me see if it's possible.

Correction it will be, the file is awaiting approval.

Edit: Fixed it, I accidentally archived the file and then unarchived it.

I wanted to edit the description a bit and once I was done, the file was up for everyone.

I logged out just to sure, and it was indeed available.

I started like this :
Now let's get prepared!
Iron Man - checked!
Free Play story line - checked!
castaway startup - checked!

Let the legend begin!
I ended up living like a thug in the jungle and a pickpocketer in cities and towns, for days.....months of in game time. became a famous robber,
just a stolen sword by luck and i became the terror of saint domingo (I think?, because i never checked the map that much lol i didn't have ship to make me do that) but sadly the game crashed after a long period of game play, and sadly.... I didn't save, I'm so stupid lol.

But worry not this time i started harder! more challenging!! More fun!!! Everyone all hail Alexander the great conqueror of the seas!! The terror of all of this new world!!
KfycD7Y.png
Barbados island is where i was thrown from my home lands(Personal nationality) I run away from authorities for i was a Rebel, an "I can't follow the rule lad!" Barbados island will be the first place where i shall make my name! and I won't rest in peace till all the world knows of me! Alexander the new world Conqueror! The seas Conqueror! The Great nations Terrorizer!

PS: Is there a place where i can start this story telling of this adventure? this will liven up this forum a little bit hehe

Pick a spot.
Any place will do.
We can always move it later.

I'll be curious to see what you dream up! :cheers

Certainly start a new thread so that your story is not lost among other comments about the Build Mod.

POTC Gameplay & Tips seems a good place to put that thread. In any case, when you have chosen a place to start the thread, we can easily enough move your post about the start of the story into that thread.

And I definitely want to see the next part of the story! :cheers
