Woodes Rogers Part 2 - (01) Alchemy Start

  • Alchemy Start (top)

    • Go to the Shipyard and down the stairs to the shipyard shore.
    • You are ambushed and left badly hurt. Your officers are killed.
    • You have two items hidden away. The robbers have missed them.
    • Examine the Long Johns and the Bandana to find Hornigolds’s Map and the Gold Key.
    • Continue to the Prison Ships, the Boat Shore and Woodes Rogers port.

    The Farm (top)

    • Entering the Farm you see it has expanded. The two doors to the new part are locked though.<
    • In Woodes Rogers bedroom open the counter with the Gold Key.
    • You find Bandages & trousers and three newspaper collections.
    • Examine the trousers and you find a new Key. It unlocks the new part.
    • Read Rogers’ newspapers notes here. You can’t take them with you. Valuable information in the questbook.
    • Unlock the two doors to the new part. Minerva arrives to guide you with your alchemical experiments.

    Work stations (top)

    1 - Mixing tables (top)

    • In the old lab there are now two places for mixing ingredients. One for small and the other one for big bottles.
    • For both: Right hand items F3 + F3. Left hand items F3 + fire pistol.
    • You will know which bottles to use.

    2 - Distillery (top)

    • Works as earlier. Open/close the grating with the lever.
    • Fill up the retort and place an empty small bottle on the stool.
    • Increase the heat with the foot plank. Warning: not more than twice or it vill explode.

    3 - Crucible (top)

    • The Crucible is on the upper floor of the new lab.
    • With the wheel on the side you can tilt the cauldron.
    • Place a small empty bottle and a funnel as a receiver on the floor.
    • With wood you can increase the heat. Three levels.
    • When everything is going well “this will take time…” you have to leave the room and return for the process to finish.

    4 - Grinder (top)

    • Also on the upper floor is the Grinder. Fill it up at the middle of the container.
    • Place an empty small bottle on the floor as a receiver.
    • The crank makes the actual grinding and the rope empties the grinder.

    5 - Filtration (top)

    • On the bottom floor of the new lab is the filtration station.
    • Place a clean piece of cloth before each new filtration.
    • The filtrated powder can be picked up into a small empty bottle.

    Resources (top)

    1 - Water tank (top)

    • The water tank as earlier in the storeroom next to the kitchen.
    • You need an empty small bottle.

    2 - Sulphuric acid tank (top)

    • The sulphuric acid tank is on the bottom floor of the new lab. Use the ladder.
    • You need an empty small bottle. Warning: without a bottle the acid is dangerous.

    3 - Wood supply (top)

    • The wood supply is on the bottom floor of the new lab.
    • You can only carry one “wood item”.

    Equipment (top)

    • You find retorts, tops, glasstubes and small bottles in the storeroom as usual.
    • Now also big bottles there.
    • A funnel and more small bottles in the chest very close to the crucible.
    • Clean cloth filters in a chest on the bottom floor of the new lab.

    Ingredients (top)

    • Ingredients are found in the storeroom, the old lab, the new lab, Minerva’s room and in the kitchen. Later on also in the new storeroom. (locked from start)

    Recipe (top)

    • In a wall cupboard in the new lab, bottom floor you find Rogers’ alchemy book.
    • The symbols in the book are explained on the big wall charts.

    Alchemy phases (top)

    • page 2 - Mix 2 Salt + Sulphuric Acid. Heat 3 in the crucible.
    • page 3 - Mix Mixture2 + Calcium Carbonate + 2 Coal. Heat 3 in the crucible.
    • page 4 - Mix Mixture4 + Water. Filtrate.
    • page 5 - Mix Sulphuric Acid + Nitre. Distill.
    • The postman delivers a book. Read all marked places to get more important information in the questbook.
    • page 6 - Grind Limestone. Heat 2 in the crucible.
    • page 7 - Horse Dung heat 1 in the crucible.
    • page 8 - Mix Sulphur + Sal Ammoniac + Calcium Oxide + Water. Distill.
    • page 9 - Mix Mixture8 + 2 Wax/Fat.
    • The rest of Rogers’ alchemy book is burned. Defoe and Claire are waiting outside.
    • Minerva takes care of your succesful experiments. The sloop is repaired and equipment ready for you in the cabin.
    • You have information about four possible places to visit in the archipelago. They are the start of four paths which you can follow in any order. (well almost)
