Captain Martel was captain of a 8 gun sloop with 80 men, he captured many vessels one of 1000 pounds in money, several Galleys, the Greyhound Galley they robbed of 40 slaves, Elephant teeth, and gold dust. He soon took a large Galley of 20 guns The John And Martha laden with logwood and sugar.

Martel kept as his new flagship and fitted her up with 2 more carriage guns and kept a hundred men aboard her. They took more galleys obtaining, gold dust slaves, ivory, english,spanish and french goods, etc. Though soon they were attacked by a large Man Of War and 19 escaped in the sloop, though Martel and some indians probally starved to death in the woods of an island.
