Powder Monkey
Remembering the original SeaDogs, now I want doin' an evaluation ofPotC, also named Sea Dogs 2.
Game, General: the good news it's the introduction of the other storical rival on the Caribbean, Portugal. This a very nice adjoin. Other good news is that ports are more populated than original SeaDogs, cities have more space and roads, then they seem more like a real XVII century port ad city. I like much wander here and there seeing ordinary people move around me, and hearing the sound of a bustling city.
The bad news are that people hasn't much to say you: "good morning-how are thee-where is(tavern, shipyard, market) tell me about X and Y-end of my chats."
Not more, even for a regular person living in an isle. The only new around all the Caribbean is the arrest of a merchant from His Fatness Silehard. Oh, great news, I see. Nothing about the european wars, Cromwell and King Charles, Richelieu and King Louis, the 30 years war...these news can't come in the Caribbean, maybe the KGB blocked them from spreading around? Haha.
Ships: Good News: ships are made so better than before. This good, and I appreciate the good work.
Now the bad news: a scarce variety of them. Where is the fast barque, and the large variety of ships of the previous game? These models was ended in some european shipyard at La Rochelle or Dieppe?
Deep mistery.
Quests: I don't want touch this point.I have only to say that now I'm at Dashing level but no other governor want me under their command, except His Fatness Silehard, then I continue to weave the St.George flag.
Mah.
About escort quests: only barques and yachts go here and there? Fluyts, Pinnaces, Galleons, they haven't need of any escort ship? And why they aren't any request for join a convoy? Often I see big ships convoys theratened in the sea from pirate attackers, but why Akella hasn't adjoined the chance to be part in a merchant convoy?
Pirates ships:
I see that all pirates of Caribbean sea have a great Mallory and Arthurian culture, they have read the "Tristain and Ysolde" romance, and then, following the chivalric tale, they use black sails!!!
Ahem......a simple 2 words term, like.... flagging the classical Jolly Roger... some black flags and sails as any other ship....ooooh nooo, scandal!!! Black Sails or Bust!
Mah. I hate this choice. Stupid and unrealistic.
NPC's:
bah. Doing merchants like every other man no, mm? Governor must be fat and somewhat horrible at all costs? I'm against this caricatural choice.
Stop here for now. See Ya, Mateys.
