What is the best ship???

Coconut Monkey

Hey Guys,

I am having troubles with picking the right ship for being a pirate who attacks towns and a lot of ships. I have a Sloop Of War at the moment but it keeps on getting destroyed even before I can get close <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> .

Does anyone know of a good pirate ship???

Thanks

Oh, I absolutely adore sacking towns. Land battles don't care about your ship type. You may want a fast ship to be able to approach port quickly before pirate hunters intercept you. I usually sail with 3 or 4 captured galleons filled to the brim with crew, and can sack and install governors of my choosing usually in one or two tries.

If you're just concerned about sea battles, that's a matter of preference, I suppose. I loath getting damaged so I pick a fast flagship and try to position myself favourably with respect to the wind, to quickly run into the enemy and start duelling. I almost never fire my guns, except for the occasional grape shot.

If you use the sloop of war correctly and avoid enemy fire, you can easily sink even the bigger ships. But if that is not your cup of tea, try to find yourself a frigate. It will withstand damage while also delivering a good punch itself.

I sailed for most of my last career in a Large Frigate which was fairly decent - make sure you get all the upgrades and with a little wise sailing and good shooting, she's practically indestructable! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Royal Sloop, she dances around the enemy, can hold 20 cannon and 187 men. Not too small, not too large, for pirating. As Wolfie typed, when using the Sloops, any type, its all about avoidance and shot placement. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The bigger ships.. sure they hold more cannon, but remember, they are bit slower in the turn and it is very easy to sink a ship instead of capture it. Besides, I always consider every shot into the enemy less salvage for me back at port...

Which ever ship you choose, be sure to maximize its benefits. This game, especially at higher levels, is not about just slugging it out toe to toe, er... hull to hull... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
